Natalie stood lost in thought, trying to remember when the boy had appeared in her past life.
After work, she went downstairs and found Jared waiting for her by the entrance. As she drew closer, she red at him, the hatred and disgust she felt for him ring up in an instant.
Jared saw the loathing in her eyes and felt a chill. "Natalie, I..."
"Get lost," she said, her voice soft but sharp.
Jared''s brow furrowed. "No wonder you can''t hold on to Sebastian''s heart, Natalie. You''re not gentle at all."
"He''s a shameless cheater. Why would I want to hold on to his heart? To make myself sick?" she retorted. All she wanted now was to be as far away from Sebastian as possible. The thought of winning his heart back was absurd.
Jared was speechless. He finally realized how much Natalie had changed. She was no longer timid and amodating; she now carried herself with an air of indifference to them all.
As she tried to walk past, Jared quickly blocked her path. "Natalie, since you''re my sister, I''ll give you some money. Just leave town. Everyone''s saying you''re just some country bumpkin who knows nothing about design. Stop embarrassing the Scott family."
Natalie''s eyes narrowed in fury. "What did you say? What have I done to embarrass you? If anyone''s embarrassing the Scott family, it''s you, with your vicious, selfish behavior!"
He choked on his words, his face darkening. He pulled out his phone and showed her the news. "See for yourself. Everyone says you''re not qualified to be the design director, that you slept your way to the top. Didn''t you drop out of high school?"
Natalie stared at him for a moment. Although she hadn''t expected anything from him, hearing such words from her own brother still sent a pang of pain through her heart. She nced at his phone; the inte was filled with articles attacking her.
She let out a bitterugh. "Jared, are you insane? What gives you the right toe here and dictate my life? And stop looking down on me with that superior attitude You''re not worthy of it."
It was clear he hadn''t listened to a word Keith had said the other day.
"Besides, do you think ndering me will make your life any better? Jared, you''re on the verge of ruin. I won''t even bother arguing with you."
With that, she turned to leave.
"Natalie, why do you keep cursing me to die?" Jared shouted, enraged. Her words had been fueling his nightmares.
Natalie looked back at him. "You won''t die. But you will be paralyzed. What''s the difference?"
In her past life, he had fallen into the water, and everyone thought he was dead. When they found him, he was paralyzed from the waist down, but that didn''t stop him from being a was just bom

"You got lucky, Jared," Natalie continued. "You weren''t the one who was switched at birth. I was. So now, because I ''embarrass'' the Scott family, I deserve to be condemned?"
