Natalie walked Matthew downstairs, the two of them chatting animatedly.
Sebastian, who had just arrived to see her, saw the entire exchange. His handsome face darkened.
What was Matthew doing here?
Sean, standing beside him, was also taken aback.
Bathed in the afternoon sun, Natalie''s smile was breathtakingly beautiful. A thought popped into his head: After the divorce, she''s stunning the world.
Natalie didn''t notice Sebastian. She was listening intently to Matthew, her face breaking into a bright, happy smile at something he said.
Even after he drove away, she remained on the spot, the smile lingering on her lips.
"You like him?" A familiar, icy voice came from behind her. Natalie spun around to see Sebastian, his eyes dark with anger. She knew why he was upset, but she also knew it had nothing to do with her.
She vividly remembered how, after Joanna''s return, Joanna would orchestrate incidents that left her with minor injuries, all to win Sebastian''s sympathy.
Every time Natalie saw Sebastian''s worried expression as he fussed over Joanna, her own heart would ache with a bitter, suffocating pain.
Now, he was angry simply because she, the woman who still held the title of Mrs. Griffith, was seenughing with another man. But her world had already shattered in her past life. Natalie offered a cid smile.
"Not yet. But unlike you, if I ever do fall for someone, I''ll wait until after the divorce. I don''t mess around during a marriage. I''m here with Mr. Monroe on business. Don''t assume everyone is as dirty as you just because you have a filthy mind."
"Natalie, what''s happened to you? You''ve be so sharp-tongued," Sebastian said, frowning.
Her smile for Matthew had been beautiful. He couldn''t remember thest time she had smiled like that in his presence.
A bitterugh escaped her lips. What had happened to her? She had been driven to her death by them, and this new version of her was born from that experience. This was only t the beginning. There was much more waiting for them, and she would reim what was hers, piece by
piece.
"I became this way because you all forced me to. Why are you here in such a
hurry? To get revenge for Joanna?"
"Too bad for you, the one who ruined her this time was Jared. But I''m sure
with your resources, you can
salvage oanna''s
reputation. After
all she''s the one you cherish most. Natalie''s smile was dark, ced with a mocking, defiant curve.
With an elegant stride, she turned and walked back into herpany building.
Sean silently cheered. Yes! Ms. Sanders is so cool.
"Sir, aren''t we going to talk to Ms. Sanders about the coboration?"
Sebastian turned away. "No. She doesn''t want to see me right now. Let''s go back."
Sean was baffled by his boss'' strange behavior. He had just postponed an international conference call specifically to see Natalie, and now he was leaving without a word.
"Where did Joanna go?" Sebastian asked as they walked.
"Ms. Scott went to the Wilson family''s residence," Sean replied.
Sebastian''s eyes narrowed. "Keep an eye on her. want a report on her every moye:" He hadn''t expected her to approach Mr. Wilson After failing to win over Mrs. Spencer She had now set her sights on the Witsons. He knew exactly what kind of man old Mr. Wilson was.
Soon enough, the online scandal would be cleared up, and Joanna would keep her role as the female lead. Natalie''s move hadn''t truly hurt her.
Sean saw the rity in Sebastian''s eyes and suddenly had a thought.
Being a man who always spoke his mind, the words tumbled out before he could stop them. "Sir, have you finally seen through Joanna''s maniptive act?"
