Natalie took the tablet. The woman in the photo was familiar. She was sure she had seen her in her past life, but not this one.
"Her name is Nora," Luna said. "She''s the CEO of S.J. Corp. One of Marshall''s potential partners met with her and signed a contract."
Natalie closed her eyes. The name was familiar too. Where had she heard it? The memories of her past life, the pain and suffering, shed before her eyes, each frame crystal clear. She pressed her fingers to her temples. "Luna, I''m going to sleep for an hour. Wake me up when the time is up." Maybe a clear head would help her remember.
Luna looked at her boss''s pale face with concern. "You shouldn''t go out today. You''re as white as a sheet. You''re going to run yourself into the ground at this rate."
Natalie just smiled and shook her head. "You don''t understand, Luna. The best way to respect life is to spend every day on something meaningful. Time is too short. I can''t waste my best years."
Luna thought she was still hurting over Sebastian. "There''s a medicine called forgetting. Let go of the pain and remember only the happy times." It was just one man. There were plenty of good men in the world.
But Luna didn''t understand. It wasn''t about Sebastian anymore. It was about survival. Natalie took a deep breath, her smile light. "You know what, Luna? All I want now is a quiet, stable life where things go smoothly. But it seems life has other ns. Even when I try to stay out of the storm, the waves keep crashing over me. Even after the divorce, after leaving the Scotts, they still won''t let me go."
She closed her eyes. Luna clenched her fists. That bitch Joanna. She deserved to die.
An hourter, Natalie woke up on her own. The medicine and the nap had done her good; she felt much stronger. After a quick trip to the bathroom, she and Luna went down to the lobby.
Marshall was already waiting. He had changed into a tailored casual suit that entuated his tall frame. His dark hair was perfectly coiffed and his mischievous eyes were full of a charm that could make anyone swoon.
"Mr. Spencer, you''re quite punctual,” Natalie said with a smile as she approached.
Marshall''s yful grin softened into something more meaningful. "How could I bete for a meeting with you, Natalie?”
She got straight to the point,
sending him Nora''s file. "This is the woman from one of thepanies that stole your contract. We''re going to investigate her. We''ll dig up verything we can. We''ll find out if Joanna is behind her."
Marshall recognized her. "Nora. I met her at a banquet once. She''s just the CEO. No one knows who the real owner is."
Natalie frowned. She knew that name. She just had to remember from where.
For the next day and night, Natalie and Marshall investigated tirelessly, finally uncovering a few leads. On the morning of the third day,
to Yaro. He had managed to salvage the situation in Wye. Natalie had
Marshall apanied Na SOF
even helped him secure a new
partnership, restoring some of his
reputation within his family. The Spencer family was a powerful force, and Natalie had no intention of letting that connection go to waste. She had already convinced Wayne to coborate with them.
