"Queena, I feel like this isn''t the first time I''ve told you this. Why don''t you believe me?" Natalie asked, a hint of frustration in her voice.
Queena sighed. "Because you have a track record. Thinking about all the foolish things you''ve done for him over the years just breaks my heart. Couldn''t you have just loved yourself instead?"
Natalie thought back on her past actions and cringed. "Not anymore," she said quietly.
They chatted for a while longer until, finally, Joanna and Yvonne were done. The clothes in the store weren''t cheap, and the total came to nearly five million.
Joanna shot a triumphant look at Natalie. "See that? Five million in one go, and Sebastian won''t even bat an eye. That''s how much he adores me. It''s a privilege you''ll never experience in your lifetime." She smiled and handed the card to the sales assistant. With a purchase thisrge, Natalie was sure to go crying to Sebastian. She wouldn''t want to be a mistress, so she would have to pressure him to finalize the divorce so she could be with him officially.
"Joanna, thank you for being so good to me!" Yvonne gushed, clinging to her arm. Natalie''s earlier words still bothered her, but seeing Joanna drop five million so effortlessly washed all her worries away. She could return most of the clothester and still pocket a few million.
Joanna patted her hand reassuringly. "Yvonne, you''re carrying Jerome''s child. He adores you. If I didn''t buy this for you, he would have. Unlike some people who get kicked out and have to shack up with shady men just to make ends meet." The jab was clearly aimed at Natalie.
Queena''s head snapped up. "Joanna, if you don''t know how to speak, then just shut your mouth. You''re the one who stole someone else''s ce. How dare you say something like that? Who''s the one involved with shady men? You know exactly who I''m talking about, so stop running your mouth."
Joanna red at Queena. What did she know? "Like seeks like, Natalie. Your friends are just as trashy as you are."
"Oh?" Natalie chimed in mockingly. "And I suppose a kidnapper like Larry is a pir of themunity? What do you think would happen if everyone found out that Ms. Joanna Scott is best friends with a man like that? Do you think the women he vited would just let you be?"
Joanna was stunned. This woman was getting harder and harder to deal with. She just huffed, but her triumphant moment was cut short when the sales assistant returned, looking ufortable. "I''m sorry, miss, but there are no fungs on this card. Could you please check if
you''ve given me the right one?"
Joanna frowned. "No funds? Is your machine broken?" It was impossible. The card Sebastian gave her had no limit.
The assistant shook her head apologetically. "We checked, miss. The card has been cancelled."
"Impossible!" Joanna refused to believe it. Why would Sebastian cancel her card?
Queena and Natalie stood up.
Queena shot Joanna a disdainful
look. "What was that all about? You
made us wait around for nothing?
Turns out you were just putting on a show." She turned to her friend. Joanna, you''re supposed to be a respectable youngdy you wanted to buy your friend clothes, you could have just done it instead of this pathetic charade. Look how upset your friend is, and she''s pregnant. You don''t want to cause her any stress."
With that, she and Natalie turned and walked away. Joanna, still in disbelief,
pulled out her phone to call Sebastian.
