Natalie couldn''t understand why Sebastian suddenly wanted to investigate the past. "What, did your boss hear me say that Joanna and Yvonne set Jerome up, and now he''s scrambling to find the ''truth'' to clear Joanna''s name?" Her first instinct was that Sebastian was trying to protect Joanna, just as he always had. Sean sighed. In Natalie''s eyes, Sebastian was the worst kind of scumbag. "Sean," Natalie continued, "tell Sebastian that I have evidence from that night. When the time is right, I''ll release it myself. He should start thinking about a strategy now for how he''s going to save his precious girlfriend." With that, she hung up.
Sean stared at his phone in disbelief. That wasn''t what he meant at all. He hadn''t even finished his sentence.
"What did she say?" Sebastian''s cold voice cut through his thoughts.
Sean looked up at Sebastian''s expectant face and ryed the message helplessly. "Ms. Sanders said she has evidence, and that if you n on covering for Joanna, you should prepare your strategy in advance."
Sebastian stared at Sean, his hands clenching at his sides. "She really said that?" This woman was ying hard to get, trying to grab his attention with these
games.
"Yes, sir. That''s exactly what she said."
A sharp pain shot through Sebastian''s chest, and he took a shaky breath. A faint, mocking smile touched his lips. "Call Natalie again. Tell her she''s won her little game. Tell her toe home."
Sean stared at him. My god, how can one man be so dense? ying hard to get? He was delusional. But ther again, the person you can''t forget is like the moon most visible in the dead of night. Sebastian had gotten used to Natalie''s care, and these past few months, he hadn''t been eating or sleeping well.
"Sir... I think you''re mistaken about Ms. Sanders," Sean ventured carefully. "She''s
not ying games. She genuinely wants a divorce." What games? He was
seriously overestimating his own charm.
Sebastian''s icy gaze fixed on him. "Call her again. Tell her toe home before I have to drag her back myself." He pictured her from earlier, wearing that simple white dress, leaning against Wayne, her long, pate legs peeking out. The image stirred something in him Natalie had won the wanted her, physically. Her push-and-pull was driving him crazy.
Sean sighed and dialed Natalie''s number again, only to find it wouldn''t connect. "Sir, she''s blocked me too."
Sebastian''s jaw tightened. "That man with Natalie, did you find out who he is?"
"I only know his name is Wayne.
Everything else about him is a dead end," Sean reported. "And the girl with her Luna, seems to be an orpham who has been with Miss Sanders since they were children. She calls her ''Miss'' or sometimes ''Natty''."
