Who could be calling her at this hour?
"Hello?" Natalie''s voice was soft, ced with a weariness that was pulling her toward sleep.
"Ms. Sanders, it''s me. Mr. Griffith is having a severe stomach re-up. I... what should I do?" Sean''s panicked voice came through the line.
Natalie knew all about Sebastian''s stomach problems. He had just been getting better, buttely, he''d thrown himself back into his work, eating irregrly and skipping meals until the old ailment had returned with a vengeance.
She had blocked Sebastian''s number long ago.
She never thought the poor bastard would have a reason toe crawling back to her.
But she wouldn''t take it out on Sean.
"Sean, go to the room I used to stay in. In the second drawer of the nightstand, there''s a medicine box. Get it and open it up. Everything your boss usually needs is in there."
“There''s stomach medication, pills for his leg pain, and eye drops. If he''s been straining his eyes, use the pink eye drops. I packaged them into daily doses, so he just needs one vial a day."
Sean was thrilled. Ms. Sanders still cared so much for him. "Okay, okay! Ms. Sanders, when are youing back?"
Natalie fell silent.
What was wrong with Sean? How could he still not understand the situation?
She was divorced. She wasn''t ever going back.
"Sean, your boss and I are divorced. I''m noting back. From now on, you''ll have to be the one to take good care of him."
With that, Natalie hung up.
She wanted revenge, but she knew she was no match for Sebastian right now. She had to keep him cated for the time being and focus on handling the Joanna situation first. An opportunity would present itselfter.
She switched her phone offpletely. If Sebastian was in agony, she wouldn''t lose a second of sleep over it.
"Hmph! That jerk. He only thinks of me when he''s in pain. When he''s wining and dining, he forgets I even exist."
Natalie turned off the lights and went to sleep.
She wasn''t going to be sad. She was a wealthy woman in her own right, an
heiress rolling in cash. It was time for her beauty rest.
In Sebastian''s world, she wasn''t even a supporting character. So, that damn man couldn''t affect her anymore.
Back at Sebastian''s mansion, Sean had just ended the call.
He stood silently, but he knew Sebastian had overheard everything. Sebastian hadn''t been eating properly for days, and the pain in his stomach was real. Every time it
red up, Natalie would be there
with his medicine, and after taking it, he''d feel better almost instantly.
In the past, whenever he had so much as a headache, Natalie would fret over
him, practically flying to his office to deliver his medication.
Now, she heard he was in pain and simply told Sean where to find the pills.
Sebastian sat as still as a statue. His perfectly sculpted features were inscrutable, but the dim light of the evening couldn''t hide the flicker of disappointment in his eyes.
His voice was hoarse. "You go boil some water. I''ll get the medicine box."
For some reason, he couldn''t stand the thought of another man going into Natalie''s room.
"Right away, sir. I''ll go boil the
water." Sean scurried to the kitchen. The atmosphere in the room was suffocating. He just wanted to get His boss settled so he could go
home and sleep. This kind of stress was taking years off his life.
Sean had already ordered some soup for Sebastian; he''d have to get some food in him before he could take any medication.
Sebastian might be a jerk, but he was a good boss. He was a workaholic. In the few months since Natalie had left, Sebastian had closed several major deals, so busy he barely had time to breathe.
By the time he finally looked up, his wife was well and truly gone.
Sean often felt a wicked urge to gloat, but then he''d remember his annual sry and manage to restrain himself.
Upstairs, in Natalie''s room,
Sebastian sat on the edge of the
bed, a wave of nausea washing over him. The pain was particrly bad tonight His dark brows were furrowed over his closed eyes, his nose a sharp, straight line above pale lips. The sickness gave his handsome face a fragile quality After a moment, he pushed himself to his feet and retrieved the medicine box.
