Chapter 76

She hid the bottle with the sample under her bed. Once Nathan''s guard was down, she would find a chance to get it tested.

Underneath the mask, Wendy''s face was contorted in agony.

She had never once doubted Nathan''s love for her. In all these years, he had never slipped up. If he hadn''t be so impatient to be with his mistress, she might have died without ever knowing the truth.

That damn scumbag. She would make him pay. He had caused her to lose her daughter; she would make sure he lost everything.

As for that toxic pair, Joanna and Sebastian-since Natalie wanted nothing to do with them, she would personally make sure they were shackled together forever.

Wendy''s heart ached thinking of her daughter''s cold, indifferent attitude. What had she done? What awful things had she said?

Wendy cried softly, her fists clenching the sheets in unbearable pain.

After another good cry, she felt a bit better. She took off the mask and went downstairs to wash her face with cold water. Staring at her reflection in the mirror, she saw she was still an attractive woman. Why should she waste her life with that bloated old sausage, Nathan?

But first, she would make sure he lost everything. He wanted to take her family''s fortune? He could dream on.

A cold smile touched Wendy''s lips.

Once she saw Nathan''s betrayal for what it was, she found she was able to move past the tears surprisingly quickly. After all, besides sweet talk, what had he ever really done for her over the years? There were no deeply cherished memories, so how could there be any love left? There was only her own self-deception.

"Hmph." Wendy took a deep breath. She had always been a strong woman. She wasn''t afraid of a fraud like Nathan. And Joanna was all style and no substance. Without her money propping her up, she would be no concert pianist. Let her dream.

Nathan wanted her to have dementia? She would see who ended up truly losing their mind.

Wendy''s eyes narrowed as she returned to the bedroom.

    Wendy

Nathan came out of the bathroom with a towel wrapped around his waist. His face, no longer young, was greased with wrinkles. Wendy suddenly found him greasy and repulsive. Without the filter of love, the man was truly ugly.

"Honey, let''s go to bed," Nathan said, relieved to see she had drunk the tonic. Soon, he would be free of this woman.

Wendy looked at his fake smile and felt a wave of revulsion. Now that she saw him clearly, he just seemed to reek of filth. But to ensure he left with nothing, she endured it.

"Mm. I haven''t been feeling well

    disturb your sleep. Maybe

    you

should sleep in the guest room."

Nathan paused. He had just showered and was in the mood. Wendy might be

getting older, but her figure and skin were still top-notch.

"Wendy, we''re husband and wife. How can we sleep in separate rooms? I''ve missed you. I don''t want to be apart."

Wendy didn''t argue further. For the sake of the truth, she would endure

it. Tomorrow, she would find a

medicine to make him temporarily impotent. The thought gave her a sense of satisfaction.

Shey down on the very edge of the bed, turned off the light, and faced away from him.

Nathan wrapped his arms around her waist, his breath hot on her ear. He was a man who prided himself on being clean and well-dressed, and he could still look handsome.

Wendy pushed him away. "I''m not in the mood tonight. I was just thinking... were those men tonight really hired by Joanna to frame Natalie?"
