Chapter 14

Natalie had just hung up with Luna when her phone rang again.

It was Sebastian. She was annoyed. In the past, she would call him, and he would often ignore her. But when he called, she would answer on the first ring. That kind of groveling love, seeped into her very bones, could never earn his respect.

A wicked smile yed on her lips. Sebastian, I''m going to treat you exactly as you treated me. She tossed the phone aside and let it ring. Now that she was free from the fog of love, logic could easily suppress any unwanted emotions.

Sebastian called several more times, but Natalie didn''t answer. His handsome face darkened. "Natalie, you''re getting bolder. Daring to ignore my calls."

Joanna, who had followed him out, heard his words, and a venomous jealousy filled her eyes. Why was he still calling Natalie? "Sebastian, are you leaving?" she asked gently, trying to mask her insecurity. She didn''t want him to go.

Sebastian was on edge. The image of Natalie with that other man, yfully asking to be carried, had been haunting his sleep for days. "I have some things to take care of. You should go back inside," he said, his voice low and detached.

Joanna sensed that something was off, but he was already striding away. She clenched her teeth, watching his retreating back. He had changed. They were divorced, so why did she feel like she was losing him? A wave of panic washed over her. Natalie, this time, you are finished.

Natalie rested for three days, and her foot was finally well enough to walk on. Wendy had called her every day, asking to meet, but she had refused each time. As for Sebastian, she had blocked his number. Why was he calling her instead of tending to his precious childhood sweetheart? A woman who only loved him for his money. Sebastian''s greatest "fortune" in life was meeting Joanna.

Since her divoree, she no longer had to wake up at the crack of dawn to take care of him. She now slept until she naturally woke up. From now on, she would rather be the viin

everyone hated than the doormat everyone trampled on. She had been such an idiot before, trading a life of leisure for one of abuse at Sebastian''s hands, only to be pushed off a building and die with her child.

Reborn, she understood that human nature wasn''t wed; she had just been too

weak. In this world, there was only strong and weak, not sympathy and love.

It had been a week since she had cut ties with the Scott and Griffith families. Why was it so quiet on their end? Natalie tilted her head, a glint in her eyes. The day Mr. Scott would be disabled was fast approaching her past life, she had warned him that there was. something wrong with his car, but he had called her crazy, used her of wishing ill on her own family, and praised Joanna for being so considerate. This time, she would warn him again. Whether he listened or not was up to him.

After freshening up, Natalie went downstairs to make breakfast for her grandfather. She skipped and hummed a happy tune. The old man had just emerged from his room when he saw her cheerful back. A fond smile spread across his face, his eyes moistening. The little girl he had raised was finally back.

Wayne was busy and hadn''t been home in three days. She made egg-filled crepes and millet porridge, which the old man loved. After breakfast, he announced he was going to the park to dance with thedies and find her a new grandmother. Natalie''s mouth twitched, but she didn''t respond.

Then, she received another call from Wendy. This time, she didn''t refuse. They agreed to meet at the Sun Club.

In the luxurious private room, a pot of orchids bloomed beautifully on the marble table. Natalie reflected that her life had never been as beautiful as those flowers.

Wendy, elegant as always, was seated on the sofa. Seeing Natalie looking well, her own three months of torment felt all the more bitter. "Natalie, are you not satisfied until you''ve destroyed my happy family?"
