Chapter 784

Seeing Lionel like this, the elders had no desire to waste another word on him.

One by one, the three elders stood up and headed upstairs.

As far as they were concerned, the leak from the meeting had been resolved when the statement was issued.

There was no need to say anything more to Lionel.

He now had a divorce to deal with, and if he still had time to argue with them about this, they wouldn''t mind adding to his troubles.

Lionel stood frozen, watching the elders'' retreating figures, his brow knitting in frustration.

The vast living room was empty except for him.

He sat alone on the sofa, his fingers tightly inteced, his body leaning heavily against the backrest.

Outside, a fierce wind had picked up, whipping branches against the windows with a loud crash.

Each thud felt like a heavy blow to his heart, making him feel even more agitated and distressed.

He had thought that once he was cleared of the leak, he could find a way to investigate Quennel and gather evidence against him.

But he never expected to be ensnared by Hannah''s trap before he could even begin.

Now, Quennel had made a clean getaway, and everyone''s attention was on his and Hannah''s divorce.

No one cared anymore whether the servant was the real leaker.

"Quennel, oh Quennel, why are you so lucky? Why was I the one who got lost, and not you?"

Lionel let out a coldugh, a bitter feeling swelling in his chest.

He wondered, if Quennel had been the one who got lost instead of him, would things be different now?

Would the elders treat him better?

Would his mother and father love him more?

Would the rest of the family value him more?

Ultimately, why hadn''t his parents tried harder, been more diligent, and found him sooner when he went missing?

At this thought, Lionel''s heart clenched violently twice, a pain so sharp it felt like his chest was bleeding.

"The Rosenberg family was already very powerful over twenty years ago. How could they not find a missing child? It''s a joke!"

Lionel suddenly sat bolt upright, his brow furrowing even deeper.

He was starting to realize something wasn''t right.

Even though the Rosenberg family wasn''t as powerful twenty years ago as they are now they were sti. formidable force. It should have been impossible for them not to find a child!

Could it be that they deliberately didn''t look for him?

    But why?

Lionel couldn''t figure it out. If he weren''t his father''s youngest son, but the product of his mother''s affair, and they were afraid of being discovered, then sending him away

    would make sense.

But when he returned, he had a DNA test with his parents, confirming he was their biological son.

    So that wasn''t it.

Then was it for some other reason? But what could it be?

He couldn''t think of anything, couldn''t understand.

He was their biological son, healthy and the family had resources. And he had been in Sova his whole life, a city that wasnt that big Finding him shouldn''t have been difficult.

Besides, the circumstances of his return were very deliberate.

If he hadn''t returned, Quennel would have been the one to marry Sandra. But Quennel didn''t like Sandra and refused to marry her.
