"Do you think Lionel is acting this way because he''s already figured out a counter- strategy or has a backup n? Maybe he''s already found someone to create new evidence that points to us, which is why he''s so arrogant?"
Mrs. Mary Rosenberg suddenly considered this, and a wave of unease washed over her.
"If that''s what he''s doing, we need to tell the elders right away. Otherwise, when they investigate and find the evidence Lionel fabricated, they''ll start suspecting us, and that would be terrible."
The more Mrs. Mary Rosenberg thought about his confident and defiant expression, the more worried she became.
"Quennel, I''m telling you, his arrogance must mean he''s up to something."
"Alright, Mom, don''t overthink it. Maybe he really didn''t do it."
As soon as Quennel finished speaking, Mrs. Mary Rosenberg pped his shoulder in frustration.
"It''s obvious he did it! Why are you defending him now?"
After she said that, something clicked in her mind, and she looked at Quennel with a horrified expression.
Her face froze for a second before she asked nervously, "Quennel, tell me... it wasn''t you who did this, was it?"
"Do you... do you have any idea what the consequences are for something like this? Tell me right now, was it you? If it was, I''ll go to the elders this instant and tell them I did it. I''ll take all the me for you, so they won''t punish you."
Seeing his calm andposed demeanor, Mrs. Mary Rosenberg''s heart began to
race.
If Quennel really was behind this, their earlier conversation had thoroughly angered the elders. If they investigated and found out, the punishment would be even more
severe.
Seeing his mother''s worried face, Quennel couldn''t help but chuckle.
"Rx, Mom, I didn''t do it. Why would I do something so stupid? And maybe Lionel didn''t do it either. It''s possible someone else is responsible."
Quennel''s tone remained incredibly calm and unconcerned as he analyzed the situation. "Besides, for all we know, the elders orchestrated this themselves. Whatever it is it has nothing to do with us, so you don''t need to be so nervous.
Seeing his mother''s anxious and fearful expression, Quennel softly soothed her,
telling her not to be so angry or worried.
After all, if he admitted to her now
that he was behind it she would do exactly
what she''d just said go to the elders, confess, and take the fall for him.
His goal was to ruin Lionel, not to let his mother take the me.
Besides, the people who knew about this had already fled the country. Even if the elders investigated now, they wouldn''t find anything.
So, in the end, the investigation would lead nowhere. They just had to let it drag on until the whole thing was forgotten.
He also knew that online buzzes and goes quickly. In a couple of days, there would be a new topic. There was nothing to be nervous about.
But there was one thing he had to prepare for.
It wouldn''t be good if Lionel hired someone to fabricate evidence that pointed to him.
However, since he already had people watching Lionel, that was unlikely to happen.
He wasn''t too worried initially, but seeing how concerned his mother was, he thought it was better to be safe than sorry. He would have to Keep a close eye on things for the next few days, just in case.
