Cherry couldn''t help but voice her concern.
Hannah looked at the photos online. She could see right through Sandra''s act; her intentions were written all over her face.
"If she doesn''t back down, we could let her and Lionel trend together. It seems like she''s desperate for a huge wave of publicity tounch hereback."
Hannah gave a cold smile. “Actually, never mind. Let''s not give her any attention at all, not a single drop. Thest thing we need is for her to sessfully use this for clout."
In the age of the inte, any publicity was good publicity. If Sandra actually managed to build a career out of this, it would be a real problem. The best strategy for now was to keep herpletely suppressed.
After giving her statement, Sandra went with her parents to the hospital for a full examination and was admitted.
Mrs. Edith Woods walked over and shut the door to the private room, checking to make sure no one was around before tiptoeing back to the bedside.
The three of them, a family reunited after so long, sat in a strangely tense atmosphere.
Sandra sat on the bed, tubes connected to her arm, staring silently out the window.
After a moment, Mrs. Woods began, her voice heavy with insinuation. “Sandra, you took all our money and caused us to lose our home. We were willing to let all of that go. After all, you''re our daughter.”
"But when you went to Kiron, we called you again and again, asking you to help us get there, and you just ignored us. We didn''t even know you were back until we saw the news."
"Everything you do is so selfish. Your father and I have spent our whole lives doting on you, and this is how you repay us?"
Listening to her mother drone on and on, Sandra''s temper red. "What do you want?" she snarled. "Just spit it out. Did you really think shedding a few tears for the police and calling me your daughter would make me go soft?"
When she''d heard her mother''s words earlier, Sandra realized for the first time just how hypocritical she was.
"I know what you''re after. You want to extort a huge sum from Lionel and keep it for yourself. Well, dream on. We split it seventy-thirty get seventy you get thirty And don''t you forget, if it weren''t for me, you wouldn''t be getting a dime. Don''t push your luck, or I''ll make sure you get nothing at all!"
Mrs. Woods was stunned that Sandra had seen through her so quickly.
She was even more stunned by the proposed split. It was outrageous.
"If we hadn''t shown up, you''d still be locked in there! Do you think you''d be getting anypensation at all? You get thirty. I get seventy! That''s how should be! Otherwise, Kwalk out of here right now and leave you torot, you hear me?"
“Fine, go ahead. Walk out. You''re just trying to scare me. The police will be by to
check on me. Let''s see what you do when they find me here all alone!”
Sandra waspletely unfazed by the threat.
"You''d better take good care of me,"
she warned, or I''ll tell the police you''re abusing me. I''ll tell them you''re neglecting me because you''re angry about thepensation money. 1''11 make sure you don''t get a single cent."
