But after some time had passed and Lionel hadn''te to confront him, he''d grown puzzled.
He hadn''t expected Hannah to call him before Lionel showed up today, telling him she needed to see him about something. When she arrived, she didn''t exin, only saying that Lionel was on his way and that she was going to hide upstairs to listen in, asking him not to reveal her presence.
Just as he was wondering what was going on, Lionel arrived. The moment Lionel spoke, Quennel knew it was about the letter.
He had expected things to unfold ording to his n, but he never anticipated a new twist about the name on the letter being changed.
As the mastermind, he was just as clueless as anyone else about how the name had mysteriously be Lionel''s. It was truly bizarre.
But now that the name on the letter was Lionel''s, it was actually a fantastic turn of events for him.
The only question was, who had changed it?
If Hannah and Samuel had done it, they must have known the name was originally his. Why change it to Lionel''s? What was their goal?
Was it really just to pick a fight with Lionel?
If so, the whole thing felt strange. It wasn''t in Hannah''s character to do something like this.
Could Samuel have insisted on it? Even that didn''t quite add up.
If Samuel wanted to do it, he would have needed Hannah''s approval.
Or maybe there was more to it than he could see. In any case, the situation had veered into territory he hadn''t anticipated.
But no matter what, this oue was incredibly favorable for him. All he had to do now was let Lionel take all the me.
Faced with their questioning,
Lionel''s expression grew darker and
thunderous
darker. His face was a thunde
mask, his lips pressed into a thin line
as he remained silent.
"Lionel, have someone send word to me when you''re finally ready to talk!" Hannah
stood up, shot him a furious re, and left with a cold snort.
Samuel got up as well. As he passed Lionel, he patted him on the shoulder twice.
"Hey, buddy, once you figure out what really happened, be sure to let me know, I''m dying to find out. Don''t disappoint us mean, I also love to Know why you''d send over a letter with your own name on it just to stir up trouble!"
Lionel still said nothing, but his breathing grew more ragged.
After Hannah and Samuel left, only the two brothers, Lionel and Quennel, remained in the living room.
“Quennel, you did this on purpose, didn''t you! You arranged for Hannah to be here,
to trick me into saying those things! What do you get out of it?!"
He lunged forward, grabbing Quennel by the cor and roaring in his face.
"Is it fun, messing with me like this? Hannah''s gone now, so you can just admit it! You arranged for those people and that letter! You just want to drive a wedge between me and Hannah
Anyone who didn''t know the real Quennel would be fooled by his act, but Lionel knew better.
He was a shameless, immoral hypocrite who coveted his own brother''s wife!
“I''m telling you, even if Hannah and I get a divorce, she would never marry you, so you can just give up on that idea!"
