The idea of trading for resources had actuallye to her on the drive over.
After all, if she just showed up like some great Samaritan and handed him the information for free, Lionel would probably suspect it was a trick.
But if she framed it as a business deal, he would be less suspicious.
And it was a great deal for her, allowing her to secure some resources for her parents.
It was an opportunity she couldn''t pass up.
As she drove, she felt a surge of gratitude that she''d overheard the conversation
and immediately volunteered to handle it.
Otherwise, she would have missed out on this deal entirely.
Lionel listened to her, his initial suspicion slowly giving way to temptation.
He knew she
was no saint. She had pretended to be on Hannah''s side, but when it came to her own interests, she was more than willing to sell Hannah out.
He regretted saying what he did to her the other day, but it was toote for that now.
The opportunity Cherry was offering was genuinely tempting, but......
After a few seconds of silence, Lionel finally asked, "And why should I believe you?"
Cherry threw her hands up. "Believe
it or not, what''s it to me? You can go there first, confirm I''m not lying, and ther give me the resources. I''m a generous person with a good business sense; I won''t haggle over the details."
She adopted a magnanimous air. "Of course, if you betray me and don''t give me the resourcester, I''ll just have to badmouth you to Hannah.”
A shadow of malice crossed her face.
"You need to remember something. Samuel is already whispering poison in Hannah''s ear about you. If a few more people join in, what do you think will happen to your reputation? can also find ways to sabotage your rtionship further. Surely you wouldn''t risk all that over a few resources, would you?"
Cherry wasn''t actually worried he would back out.
A deal like this was too advantageous for him to pass up, and if this first negotiation
was sessful, they could work together again in the future.
She could get so many resources for her parents!
Of course, she would tell Hannah about the resources she was getting today.
She was firmly on Hannah''s side now, and since the information came from Hannah, it was only right to tell her. That way, Hannah might give her more opportunities in the future.
This deal didn''t cost Hannah anything, so she probably wouldn''t mind.
Besides, if she kept it a secret and got caught, her fate would be the same as Lionel''s.
Lionel gave Cherry a long, meaningful look.
Her expression was so innocent; he couldn''t detect any sign of deceit.
It seemed this was the real deal. And
just as she''d said, if Hannah was nning to go alone, this was his chance. If he followed her and saved her even if she didn''t forgive him right away, it might soften her heart just a little.
