"Whether I like Sandra or not is a separate issue from you kidnapping and torturing her. Now tell me, where did you take her? If you don''t, I''ll report you to the police on her behalf. Kidnapping is a serious crime."
Lionel fired off his usations in a single breath, trying to intimidate him.
But Quennel listened without batting an eye, and even let out a contemptuousugh.
"It seems you learned a few things in Nyston. You even know to call the police now. What a fast learner. You''ve really grown up."
Hearing Quennel mock what had happened in Nyston, Lionel''s face instantly darkened. His eyes, burning with rage, were fixed on him.
"What, did I say something wrong? You never thought to call the police before, no matter what happened. But now you do. It just goes to show that travel really does broaden the mind."
Quennel continued his taunts with a smile.
He gave Lionel a meaningful look and added, "But your habit of wrongly using people hasn''t changed a bit. First, you misjudged your ex-wife, now you''re misjudging your own brother. The only person you never misjudge is your precious mistress."
Lionel finally snapped. He mmed his hands on the table and shot to his feet, roaring in fury.
"I''m not joking with you! That helicopter was yours! You brought Sandra back from Kiron, and she vanished right afternding in your territory. It''s obvious you took her and hid her somewhere!"
After investigating the few clues he had, he was certain Quennel was behind it. He had even sent people to tail him, hoping to find a lead.
But either Quennel was already on his guard or something else was going on, because after days of surveince, his men hade up with nothing.
He was living a simple life, just going between hispany and home, nowhere else.
Seeing Lionel''s furious, contorted face, as if he wanted to tear him apart, Quennel remainedpletely unfazed.
He crossed his arms, leaned back against the sofa, and smiled faintly.
"If you''re so convinced that I kidnapped and harmed Sandra, then go ahead and call the police. I won''t stop you. You can do it now, or you can do it from home. I''ll be waiting.
As Quennel kept repeating the word "police," Lionel''s face grew uglier, his brow furrowed with frustration.
"I hope you do call them. Just like
that guy spreading rumors. He called them right away because he
knew you really did hit him. But you
don''t know if I really did kidnap
anyone."
Quennel''s analysis was sharp and to the point, leaving Lionel speechless. All he could do was grit his teeth and re.
"You''re just trying to intimidate me, hoping I''ll get scared and tell you the truth. But the truth is, I didn''t kidnap her f you don''t believe me, there''s nothing I can do." fo
After saying this, Quennel let out a long sigh. He picked up his ss of red wine, swirled it gently, and continued,
"Now I finally understand why Hannah wants to divorce you. Anyone would want to divorce a man like you. You only ever trust others, never your own family."
