"Yes," Hannah replied from the other end of the line.
When she first heard the audioing through her earbud, she had been genuinely startled.
She never thought Samuel would be so bold as to record the conversation live.
She had assumed he would juste back and tell her everything afterward.
But after the initial shock, she had listened intently.
It was pure bragging.
And it was all about things she had never heard of before.
But the recording only contained Sandra''s voice. It sounded like she had been recorded without her knowledge.
As for who did the recording, that was anyone''s guess.
Maybe it really was Quennel, as Lionel had imed.
But without any proof, she couldn''t bring herself to suspect Quennel.
Besides, Quennel had been so good to her; she shouldn''t doubt him.
But if it really was him... perhaps he had his reasons for doing it.
“Hannah, what do you make of all this?" Samuel asked.
"I think Lionel was lying at the end," she said. "Knowing Sandra, if Lionel had really done those things for her, she would have admitted it proudly. But she would never make things like that up."
Although Sandra had always loved to show off in front of her, she had never lied about it. The things she bragged about were always real.
"Oh... so he yed us that recording and then lied, iming she was forced to say those things by Quennel?"
Hearing Hannah''s analysis, Samuel''s disgust for Lionel intensified.
"What''s his goal? To make you hate Quennel? To turn you against him? Even if you two had a falling out, so what? Does he think you''d go back to him? That you''d call off the divorce?"
The more Samuel talked, the more agitated he became, wishing he could go back and p Lionel a few times.
Seriously, how could a man be so shameless?
What was he trying to do?
Where was his brain?
“Hannah, is he... a little unhinged?"
Hannah sighed. "Honestly, I''m starting to think he is. Let''s just forget about him. Come back and let''s get lunch."
"Okay."
After leaving the cafe, Lionel thought for a moment and decided to head straight back to Sova to find Sandra.
There was no point in staying here.
Hannah wouldn''t see him, he couldn''t get into her office, and even if he could see her from a distance every day, it was meaningless.
He might as well go back now, follow the leads he had, and find Sandra. If he could get her to tell Hannah what had happened, maybe Hannah would finally believe him and start to see Quennel for who he really was.
The thought filled Lionel with a renewed sense of purpose.
However, the clues he had were still too few to pinpoint Sandra''s location.
A few hourster, Lionelnded in Sova.
He went directly to the Rosenberg estate to confront Quennel.
"I''m sorry, Mr. Lionel, but the young master is attending a dinner party
tonight and wilt be
tonight and wit be back veryte
you wish to see him, pleasee back tomorrow."
"What dinner party?” Lionel asked.
The servant shook his head. "My apologies, Mr. Lionel, I don''t know the details. We servants are not allowed to ask too many questions. Please don''t press us."
