They knew it was from Lionel and probably wasn''t important, but they never expected this.
"What gives Lionel the nerve to ask you to meet? Is he insane?"
The letter essentially said he wanted to meet Hannah during her lunch break to discuss Sandra''s whereabouts.
It told Hannah that if she wanted to know, they should meet and talk. If not, she should unblock him.
"If you want to know, we''ll meet. If not, unblock me.'' That''s not a request, it''s amand! Why can''t he ever just talk to you normally? He always has to sound like he''s looking down on you."
That was a question Hannah herself wanted an answer to.
She had told him multiple times about his problematic way of speaking.
Others had told him too, but it never seemed to sink in. He''d say he understood, then revert to his old habits a secondter.
But he was never like that with Sandra. It was clear that even now, after everything that had happened and all his apologies, he still hadn''t fundamentally changed how he talked to her.
Samuel pinched the bridge of his nose in frustration and looked at Hannah seriously.
"Hannah, you look like you''re actually tempted. You''re not really thinking of going to see him, are you?"
"If he knows where Sandra is, why doesn''t he just go get her himself instead of asking to meet with you? I have a feeling he has no clue where she is and is just using this as an excuse. I think it''s best if you two see each other as little as possible."
Hannah thought for a moment, then sighed. "That''s what I think too, but for some reason, I still want to go. Or... how about you go in my ce, and we stay on the phone the whole time?"
Samuel''s face lit up at the suggestion. He nodded eagerly.
"I think
Letat''s a brilliant idea, Hannah. him for you, and we''ll see theft
During lunch, I''ll go meet
what hes
really up to!"
"Deal!"
Lunchtime.
Lionel arrived at the designated restaurant early, ordered a coffee, and waited quietly for Hannah. He had chosen a spot very close to her office-just a two-minute walk and had a clear view of the entrance.
If Hannah came out, he would see her.
He kept his eyes glued to the window, afraid he might miss her.
Other patrons recognized him and began whispering among themselves.
"Look, isn''t that the scumbag who''s been all over the newstely?"
"Yeah, that''s him! The one who assaulted someone yesterday or the day before!"
"Oh my god, I can''t believe he''s
showing his face here. Honestly, if I
were him, I would have signed the divorce papers and disappeared by now instead of embarrassing myself."
“Same here. Shameless people truly have no limits."
"As a woman, if I ever ended up with a man like that, it would be the stain of my life."
