"He lookedpletely shattered, probably after I told him you didn''t need him and could solve all your problems by yourself."
"Hahahahahahaha."
Hannah burst outughing.
"Sandra always needed him for everything. No matter what happened, she would run to Lionel for help. And, in the past, so would I."
"So he naturally assumed I needed him too. But now that you''ve told him I don''t, his whole world has copsed. He just can''t handle it."
As she spoke, Hannah recalled how, whenever something happened in the past, he was the first person she would think of, hoping he woulde and help.
But every time she called him for help, Sandra would somehow appear at the most opportune moment and drag Lionel away.
Back then, she had no choice but to handle everything alone, whether it was driving herself through a storm or to the doctor with a high fever. Gradually, she got used to
it.
No matter what happened, she would deal with it herself because there was no one around she could trust, no one willing to help.
So now, when faced with nder, she handled it herself. There was no instinctive fear or impulse to call someone for help.
Thinking about it now, she realized she should probably thank him. If it weren''t for him, she never would have be so independent, decisive, and resourceful.
"Anyway, I''m at the station now. I''ll call you after I''m done, and we can go out for dinner tonight and talk more about this."
"Okay."
Hannah hung up just as she arrived home. It had been a long day, and she still had more to do in the afternoon. She decided to take a quick nap before getting back to
it.
Meanwhile, at thepany.
The boss called Yves to tell him what had happened that day.
A smile touched Yves'' lips as he listened.
"See? I told you before, Hannah is very capable. Don''t underestimate her."
"You were right, Ms. Green is truly impressive. I did a little digging today and found out that guy has some serious character issues, He got the job throughmections, SO I''m nning on firing him."
The boss had thought he''d hired a great employee, but it turned out he''d just brought in trash.
"And I had no idea until today, but
apparently a lot of people in
Green, that''s been clo
up too."
"Hahahaha, well then, Hannah is your savior. You should give her some extra recognition for handling that on top of her project wor
"Don''t worry, I will!"
Night fell.
After finishing up at the office, Hannah and Samuel were about to leave to meet
Tess when they saw Lionel at the entrance.
He was leaning against his car, looking like he''d been waiting for a while.
The moment he saw Hannah, he hurried over.
Hannah pretended not to see him and continued walking toward the parking lot, ughing and talking with Samuel.
"Hannah!" Lionel strode forward to block her path.
"I heard about what happened today."
Hannah raised an eyebrow. "And? What about it?"
