After saying her piece, Hannah turned to the boss, a faint smile on her lips.
"Don''t worry, sir. Your employee used you of being a rapist, and I will cooperate fully with the investigation to clear your name. I won''t let your reputation be tarnished."
The boss'' face was ashen as he stared at Hannah in disbelief.
Typically, a nder case like this would harm the woman most, but with a few choice words, Hannah hadpletely flipped the script. Suddenly, she was the innocent party, and the boss was the one whose name was on the line.
This maneuver shocked not only the boss but also the other colleagues who had been eavesdropping from the sidelines.
No one had expected Hannah to be so bold. To face such a vicious rumor with such calm andposure, cleverly defusing the entire crisis.
The boss noticed the strange looks he was getting from everyone around him.
He finally understood why Mr. Lancaster had specifically told him not to underestimate this woman when theirpany sent her over. And he was right. This woman was not to be underestimated. She was incredibly strong, with an unshakable core.
As James was led away, the onlookers dispersed and returned to their desks, though none of them could focus on work. They began whispering among themselves.
"I didn''t believe it for a second when James said it. I''d heard he got fired from hisst job for spreading rumors, which is how he ended up here."
"Honestly, I kind of believed it at first. There were already whispers about the boss being shady. But now I see it was all just gossip. It''s a good thing Hannah stood up to him, or I might have fallen for it."
"Yeah, totally. And let''s be real, if he
told us, we would have told other
peopl
and the rumors would have and the rumors
Spread like wildfire, pletely destroying her reputation."
"I think Hannah is so strong. Isn''t she going through a divorce right now? To have such a solid sense of self through all that... she''s amazing. With that kind of mindset, she seed at anything."
“Exactly. We should all learn from Hannah. Her attitude is just incredible. I''ve decided I''m going to learn as much as I can from her while she''s here!"
Hannah had no idea she had just be a role model for the entire office.
She left the building and, once in her car, called Tess to tell her what happened. Tess said she''d already received a call from the police and was on her way to the station.
Halfway there, Tess spotted an unwee guest walking toward her. At first, she pretended not to see him, but the man drew closer until he was standing right in front of her.
"Is Hannah staying with you now?" Lionel asked.
"I don''t know what you''re talking about."
"Please, just tell her for me that I really didn''t look up which hotel she was staying at. It was aplete coincidence that we ended up in the same fotel, on the same floor."
Tess couldn''t help but roll her eyes.
"Let me ask you this-when you were doing it, did you ever feel guilty? Or did you
just assume we were all fools?"
