She tilted her head back to look at Lionel, her voice choked with sobs.
"If I go back now, Hannah will destroy me. I''m scared."
But this time, her pleas had absolutely no effect on Lionel.
His face hardened as he pried her hand away.
"If you were so scared, why did you do it in the first ce?"
Sandra bit her lip, realizing that nothing she said now would get through to him.
“Fine, I understand," she said, taking a deep breath as if she had made a momentous decision. She stood up. "I''ll go pack my things ande back with you. Just wait for me here."
"It''s good that you''vee to your senses."
Sandra kept looking back at Lionel as she walked toward the stairs. The moment she was out of his sight, her expression changedpletely. She quickly sent a text to Owen, then bolted through a separate emergency exit.
She wasn''t an idiot.
If she went back now, Hannah would never forgive her, and she would likely end up in prison.
She just never imagined that Lionel would actuallye all the way to Kiron to find her for Hannah''s sake.
It was clear he hadpletely changed. The next time she saw him, she wouldn''t waste time talking-she''d just run.
Downstairs, Lionel waited for a long time, but Sandra never reappeared. A sense of unease crept over him.
He immediately got up and headed upstairs.
But when he checked every room, there was no sign of Sandra. Only then did he realize he had been deceived by her yet again.
“Sandra!” he roared, gritting his teeth as he rushed back downstairs. He searched the area around the house, but she was nowhere to be found.
Lionel pulled out his phone and called his contacts in the area, asking them to help track Sandra down.
The next morning.
Hannah was halfway through breakfast when she picked up her phone and saw the posts orchestrated by Mary, using her of bullying the elderlyte at night.
Thements section was flooded with paid trolls, all attacking her, painting a picture as if she had been tormenting two helpless old people.
It was as if everyone had forgotten what had actually happened the day before.
"Oh, for crying out loud! That
shameless old hag actually had people spying on us!" Samuel cursed, immediately arranging for security to patrol the property. Any suspicious individuals were to be reported to the police and removed. He was determined not to let this happen again.
Hannah, however, waspletely unfazed by the online attacks. She simply retrieved the surveince
footage from the previous day
incident, an unedited video clip and posted it online without any text ormentary, letting theizens draw their own conclusións.
The inte exploded once again.
[What''s wrong with people? That first video didn''t even say who those two were.]
[I thought they were just passersby
at first. I can''t believe they were the
two trolls from yesterday who went to her house to cause trouble. They
deserved to be kicked out, and then they have the nerve to spread rumors online.]
[Damn, they''re masters at manipting public opinion!]
[Those shameless old bastards! I wish they''d been cursed out even more
yesterday!]
Seeing that public opinion had once again swung in Hannah''s favor, Mary furiously grabbed her phone and dialed Lionel''s number.
