Chapter 382

Owen''s breathing grew heavier, and he clenched his jaw, not daring to utter a word.

    "Watch."

Seeing him remain motionless, Lionel snapped, his voice sharp.

Owen flinched and nodded repeatedly. His right hand trembled as he reached for the mouse. He tried to drag the progress bar, but his hand shook so badly that he kept messing it up.

Lionel watched him in silence, observing his repeated fumbling.

The tension in the room grew thicker with every passing second, and a thinyer of sweat broke out on Owen''s forehead.

"It seems you already know what''s on the rest of the video, which is why you''re so reluctant to watch it."

Lionel''s cold voice cut through the silence, his gaze sharp and prating.

At his words, Owen''s face paled. He swallowed hard before finally speaking. "Mr. Rosenberg, I don''t know what you mean. I just haven''t had breakfast, so my blood sugar is a little low, that''s why I''m shaking."

"When the original drive was given to me, the screen was already ck. I had no idea what came after that. I assigned my junior assistant to handle it, and he never reported back to me, so I genuinely don''t know what''s on thetter part of the drive."

If he hadn''t spoken with Hannah, Lionel might have believed him. But after their conversation, he had thought long and hard about it, and the whole situation felt increasingly wrong.

    "I met with Hannah today."

Lionel''s sudden statement made Owen freeze, pletely unsure of what he was getting at.

He thought for a moment before asking, “Did you meet with Ms. Green to discuss the marriage? Is she willing to back down and stop causing trouble?"

"She told me the first USB drive she gave me was perfectly fine, but something went wrong after it was handed over to you."

Hearing this, Owen''s heart began to race.

    "Could Ms. Green have been

mistaken? Or perhaps, after causing a rift with you, she''s now trying to drive a wedge between us? Mr. Rosenberg, I''ve worked by your side for so many years. You know what kind of person I am."

Owen had been with him for three years, handling matters big and small, and hispetence had grown year after year.

But it was also a fact that he favored Sandra. He would often tell Lionel how Hannah fell shortpared to her.

At the time, Lionel hadn''t paid it much mind, but thinking back now, Owen''s actions were a clear form of maniption. Besides, what benefit was there for a secretary to sour the rtionship between him and his wife?

If his rtionship with Hannah deteriorated, the only one who stood to gain was Sandra. What did his secretary have to do with it?

Thinking it through, the only logical conclusion was that he and Sandra had some sort of agreement. He would whisper things in tiones ear to make him notice Sandra, and in return, Sandra would give him something of value.

At this realization, Lionel let out a bitterugh seemed he was being yed for a fool both at home and at the office. The only person who hadn''tried to deceive him was the one he hade to resent, all because of the lies he''d been fed.

Seeing Lionel''s face darken, Owen knew something must have been exposed. Panicked, he immediately dropped to his knees.

"Mr. Rosenberg, please, let me exin. It was a momentarypse in judgment. I was confused, I wasn''t thinking straight when I did it.”
