"I know where he is," she said quickly. "He got scared when he found out you were a Temple and came to me for help. You know how my family is now..."
"Where is he?" Hannah cut her off, having no patience for her theatrics.
"Xya Airport. He should be arriving there soon. You''d better hurry..."
Beep. Beep. Beep.
Before Sandra could finish, the line went dead. Staring at the disconnected call, she was so furious she almost smashed her phone against the wall.
"You bitch," she seethed. "Just wait. Once I''m in with the Temple family, I''ll deal with you."
Forcing down her rage, she immediately dialed Jason''s number.
"Ms. Woods, we had a deal. Why are you..."
"Jason, the Temple family is looking for you," she said, her voice a convincing imitation of panic. "Get to Xya Airport now. I''ve already arranged a flight out of the country for you, all your papers are in order. Hurry, or you won''t make it!"
Jason was silent for a few seconds. "What... what''s going on?"
"There''s been a change of ns. Just as we expected, Hannah waspletely humiliated, but it seems she''s ming everything on you. The Temples areing for you!"
"No! That''s not what we nned! You were supposed to blur out the other men in the video, and I wasn''t even in it! How could they have traced it back to me?"
"Just stop asking questions and get to the airport! If you miss that flight, you''re done for. Now go!"
On the other end of the line, Hannah heard the screech of tires as Jason, without even hanging up, sped toward the airport.
Hannah ended the call and looked up at her uncle, Peter.
"Do you trust what she said?" he asked.
"I do. And I''m one hundred percent certain Jason is at the airport."
Samuel, who had been listening, looked confused. "How can you be so sure, Hannah?"
"She and Jason were clearly working together to get that video and y it at the party," Hannah exined. “I don''t know if she yed the wrong one bymistake or if she always intended to sell him out to get in the temple family good graces Either way, now that she knows we''re looking for Jason, she sees an opportunity. By turning him in, she earns a favor from us-a favor she can use to save her family."
"I''ll send my men to the airport immediately," Peter said, pulling out his phone to make the call.
At the airport, a frantic Jason tried calling Sandra to find out who he was supposed to meet.
"Why isn''t she picking up?" he
muttered, pulling his hat down low over his eyes as he tried dialing again. "The number you have dialed..."
The automated message sent a chill down his spine. He instantly understood
what had happened and spun around to run.
"Mr. Cooper. Where do you think you''re going?"
As he turned, he saw a group ofrge, imposing men blocking the exit. With no time to think, he darted to the right, only to find another group of men blocking his path. And another to his left.
They emerged from all directions, a silent, menacing wall of bodies, slowly closing in on him.
Jason froze, pletely surrounded. The phone slipped from his grasp and
ttered to the floor. He slowly raised his hands in surrender.
"I''ll... I''ll go with you. I''ll go with you!"
The man in the lead gave a curt nod. "Take him."
Two men grabbed Jason''s arms, twisted them behind his back, and forced him
into a deep bow as they marched him out of the airport.
"Mr. Temple," the lead man reported into his phone. "We have him."
