Chapter 309

She was grateful to have found her family. Now she had a ce to stay, a sanctuary where Lionel couldn''t easily find her and cause more trouble.

When Hannah arrived back at the estate, she found Cherry sitting on the living room sofa. The moment Cherry saw her, she jumped up and ran over.

“Hannah, are you really married to Lionel?" she asked, her eyes wide with curiosity. "You weren''t lying to me, were you?"

"Just say what you want, Cherry. There''s no need to beat around the bush."

Cherry pouted, annoyed by Hannah''s directness. "Since you''re married to Lionel, you must have met Quennel, right? Does he have a girlfriend? Do you know what kind of woman he likes?"

Hannah gave her a suspicious look, instantly understanding her motive.

Feeling scrutinized, Cherry straightened up defensively. "What are you looking at? I''m a Temple heiress. You can''tpare me to those other women out there! Just tell me what Quennel likes."

Hannah''s gaze drifted to the small dog circling Cherry''s feet. A small smile touched her lips. "Alright. I can tell you what kind of woman he likes."

"Really?" Cherry''s eyes lit up, and she leaned in closer.

"Quennel prefers women who don''t own dogs," Hannah said coolly. "And he especially detests ck poodles."

    ...

    ...

"Hannah, are you insane? You''re doing this on purpose, aren''t you? You... you! I''m going to have Mico bite you!"

"Woof! Woof! Woof!" Mico barked furiously, feeding off his owner''s anger.

Hannah just smirked at Cherry''s tantrum.

"All I hear is barking, barking, barking! I could hear you from downstairs," a new voice cut in. "Cherry, if you have this much

energy you should be a nanny. At least then you be useful instead of just making noise all day!

Samuel came down the stairs, holding an invitation. He handed it to Hannah. "There''s a g tomorrow. afternoon Grandpa wants me to take you so he can introduce you to everyone."

Just as Hannah reached for it, Cherry snatched it away.

"I''m going too!" she dered after reading the invitation. A g this big meant Quennel would almost certainly be there. This was her chance!

"Says who? Were you invited? Have some shame!" Samuel snapped, grabbing the invitation back and giving it to Hannah.

"Ignore her," he told Hannah. "Grandma has already had some gowns sent over. They''re upstairs. Go pick one you like."

Hannah nodded and followed him upstairs.

Left behind, Cherry stomped her foot and yelled, "I said I''m going, so I''m going! If

you don''t let me, I''ll tell Grandpa and Grandma that you''re bullying me!"

No one paid her any attention, so she huffed and followed them up.

    Upstairs, three racks of thetest

designer gowns were on disy. Cherry''s eyes went wide. She

attended her share of gs, but

she''d never worn anything this exquisite A surge of jealousy washed over her.

Just as Hannah picked up a dress, Cherry lunged forward and grabbed it.

"This one''s nice. It would look great on me. I''m going to try it on." Hannah''s hand shot out, mping down on her wrist. "Is it yours to try on?" "What''s the big deal? I''m a Temple granddaughter too! Don''t I have the right?" Cherry retorted, yanking her hand free and heading for the dressing room with the gown.
