Chapter 257

"Sandra, your apology ispletely insincere, and I have no intention of epting it," Hannah said coolly. "But if you ever pull a stunt like this again, you know exactly what the consequences will be."

With that, she turned and walked away, her colleagues falling into step beside her, leaving Sandra alone in the scorching sun. Sandra''s breath came in ragged gasps, her body trembling with rage. That damn woman! She had refused to give her an out, even in front of all those people. Just wait, she thought. When she''s divorced and I take her ce, I will make her life a living hell. I''ll make her regret everything she''s ever done to me.

As the group walked away, Samuel, who had been about to say something else, spotted a familiar car parked down the street. "Hey, I''ve got to run. See you guyster!" he called out, jogging toward the car.

He pulled open the back door and slid in next to his uncle, Peter. "Uncle Peter! What brings you here? Did you make something special for dinner ande to pick me up?"

Peter pushed his silver-rimmed sses up the bridge of his nose, giving his food- obsessed nephew an exasperated look. "Did you do what I asked you to do?"

Samuel''s cheerful demeanor vanished as he remembered his task. “Oh, right. I asked around and put together everything I could find on Hannah." He sent the file to his uncle''s phone. "Uncle, why didn''t you just look her up yourself? You''re so good at finding information. Couldn''t you get this stuff?"

Peter ignored his nephew''s question and opened the file. He had tried to run a background check on Hannah, but her information was heavily encrypted. Beyond the basics-name, age, profession-everything else, including her address, was sealed. That''s why he had resorted to using his bumbling nephew.

As Peter read, Samuel chattered on about the dramatic scene that had just unfolded. This caught Peter''s attention.

"Who is this Lionel that Sandra mentioned?" he asked.

Samuel blinked, his brow furrowing in thought. "You know, I have no idea. We didn''t think to ask Maybe he''s that scumbag ex boyfriend she was with before?"  fo

    "What''s his full name?"

"She never mentioned it. He''s probably just some nobody."

Peter didn''t think so, but he simply told his nephew to keep digging and turned his attention back to Hannah''s file.

"Just as I thought," Peter murmured, pointing to her date of birth. "Do you see?"

Samuel leaned in, stared at the date for a long moment, and then shook his head “What about it? Are you going to take her birthdate and yours to a fortune teller to see if you''repatible?"

Peter closed his eyes, a wave of weariness washing over him. "Have you forgotten? That''s the same day your Aunt Cheryl went intobor and... disappeared."

    Samuel''s eyes widened in shock.

"Uncle, you don''t think..." He swallowed hard. "You don''t think

Hannah is the baby Aunt Cheryl had?

That would be... too much of a

    coincidence, wouldn''t it?"

Peter didn''t answer. He just pulled up a photo of his sister on his tablet and held it

next to a picture of Hannah.
