The two horses faced each other, tossing their heads.
Juniper leaned back as if startled, looking like she might fall at any moment.
"Ms. Payne, be careful!" the trainer cried out, his heart leaping into his throat. "Ms. Sherwin, please move your horse to the left."
These were racehorses, bred forpetition, and theirpetitive instincts were fierce. When brought together, they often saw each other as rivals, which could easily lead to a riding ident.
"Oh, I''m so sorry," Ynda said, her brow furrowed with feigned guilt. She murmured an apology, "This horse is just so disobedient."
Juniper shot her a look but said nothing, her gaze turning colder by the second.
Under the guidance of the staff, Juniper took a moment to get ustomed to the riding arena before saying, "Thank you for your help, but I can ride on my own."
"On your own?" a staff member asked in surprise, frowning. "But didn''t you say you couldn''t ride?"
"Who said I can''t?" Juniper tightened her grip on the reins, a slight smile ying on her lips. "I never said that."
The trainer was stunned. This was Jimmie''s sister, after all; if anything happened to her, it would be a disaster.
"I was a horse trainer for over a decade," Juniper said, a casual confidence in her voice as she tugged the reins. "Don''t worry. If anything happens, I''ll take full responsibility."
Just then, Miranda''s voice came through their earpieces. "Let her have some fun."
Juniper had imed to be a horse trainer, and Miranda knew she wasn''t one to make empty boasts. If she said she could do it, she could.
"Understood."
Following the order, the trainers immediately stepped back.
By now, Jimmie and Yates had finished their ride and were leading their horses back. The arena was left to just Ynda and Juniper.
Ynda had alreadypleted ap, every movement and expression perfectly curated as if for a photoshoot, resulting in a series of stunning pictures. Her performance drew constant cheers from the crew and the male guests.
Even Miranda praised her. "Ynda, that shot looks incredible."
The audience in thements section was divided. Some found Ynda pretentious, while others were impressed. She clearly had training, and her riding skills were genuinely good.
Hearing Director Miranda''s praise, a smug smile graced Ynda''s lips. She nced over at Juniper, who was still in the same spot, talking to the trainers. Their expressions looked grim.
*Still dawdling around after all this time?* Ynda thought. *Pathetic.* Then, for some unknown reason, both trainers walked away from her. They probably got tired of teaching someone so clumsy,* she mused.
Now, only the two of them remained in the arena.
vel.
Ynda''s eyes narrowed, a sly look flickering within them. She had been wondering how to deal with Juniper, and now an opportunity had presented itself. She nced around, noticing that her current position was perfectly angled away from the cameras. A little mischief would gopletely unnoticed.
After a moment''s thought, Ynda gripped her reins tightly. Then, when she was sure no cameras were on her, she jabbed her horse''s belly hard with a sharp object hidden on her clothing.
The horse, struck with sudden, sharp pain, lost control and bolted forward in a frenzy.
"Ahhh—" Ynda screamed from atop the horse, shouting helplessly, "Get out of the way! Move!"
"What''s happening?" Miranda shot to her feet in rm. "Why are the horse and rider going crazy? Everything was fine just a moment ago! Trainers, get in there now!"
Ynda''s horse seemed to be charging directly at Juniper. At that speed, a collision would be catastrophic. Juniper would be left either dead or severely disabled.
