In the grand hall, Warren stood with Celine''s hand in his left and a bulging bag in his right.
"Juniper!" The moment Celine saw her sister, she let go of her husband''s hand and ran toward her with joyous abandon.
Juniper stood up and took two steps forward, opening her arms to embrace her.
"My husband didn''t lie to me," Celine said, hugging Juniper tightly, her small face scrunched up as she rambled on. "He said if I ate all my food, I could see you. I ate a lot, you know."
"You''ve been so good," Juniper murmured, her eyes softening as she gently tidied the messy strands of hair on Celine''s forehead. It was clear Warren had been taking good care of her sister. Though it had only been a few days, herplexion had improved significantly.
"Juniper, this is for you." Celine handed the small, full bag to Juniper. "Yummy snacks. My sister gets to eat first."
"Thank you." Juniper looked down at the bag, which was stuffed to the brim with treats. This must have been how her sister cared for her when they were children.
As Juniper looked down, her bare neck was exposed, revealing a conspicuous red mark just above her corbone.
"Juniper!" Celine thought she was hurt and pointed excitedly at the mark. "Ouchie? Need medicine."
Juniper touched the spot, realized what it was in an instant, and subconsciously pulled her cor up. She shot a fierce re at Shanley. He actually bit her? Was he a dog?
"Ahem, it was a mosquito bite. It''s nothing," Juniper exined awkwardly, her cheeks flushing. "Go sit down and rest.”
"Oh." Celine nodded, but as she walked away, she kept ncing back at Juniper''s neck, puzzled. She''d been bitten by mosquitoes before, but it never looked like that. Maybe... the mosquito that bit Juniper was just really big and vicious.
...
After they were all seated, Warren brought up the topic of the hypnotherapy. In stark contrast to Celine''s rosyplexion, his face was pale and weary.
"I choose the treatment," Warren said, his bloodshot eyes fixed on Juniper. "When can we start?"
"You''re okay with the side effects?" Juniper looked up, her delicate brows furrowed slightly Whether she recovers is up to chance she might never remember you for the rest of her life."
"I know." A bitter smile touched Warren''s face as he gazed at Celine with a look of sorrow. "I''d rather she
return
to normal than live the rest of
her life confused and in pain.
Besides her intellect being stuck at that of a six-year-old, she also had nightmares, murmuring in distress and struggling in her sleep. He didn''t want that for her anymore.
“Besides..." Warren paused for a few seconds before continuing, "we are a legally married couple. Other men can only dream."
He added, “We have a long life ahead of us. I''ll make her remember me, and fall in love with me all over again."
Shanley''s hands, which were peeling an orange, paused for a fraction of a second. He nced at Juniper, and the coldness in her eyes was reced with a hint of admiration.
"What if she doesn''t fall in love with you again?" Juniper raised an eyebrow, asking casually.
"I''ll let her go," Warren answered without hesitation, his tone earnest. "As long as she''s happy, I don''t care what happens to me."
"Alright."
After hearing Warren''s words,
Juniper was silent for a long
moment before a cold st
onto her tips. For those two
sentences alone, she''d put in a good word for him when her brothers and sister came looking for trouble She definitely wouldn''t let him get beaten to "death."
"The treatment begins tomorrow," Juniper said quietly. "Before we start, let my sister see the rest of her family."
"The rest?" Warren coughed, unable to hide his nervousness. Were theying to settle the score with him?
"Juniper." Warren stood up and ced a gleaming gold credit card on the table, feigningposure. "What happened before was a misunderstanding. I hope you can forgive me."
