Warren''s brow furrowed at Juniper''s words, a look of bewilderment clouding his face. After a long moment, he found his voice.
"If she forgets... can she ever get those memories back?" he asked cautiously.
"Perhaps." Juniper wasn''t trying to scare him; this was simply the reality of hypnotherapy. It had its pros and cons. The choice depended on what a person was willing to sacrifice.
"I didn''t tell you before because I wasn''t sure," Juniper said, turning to look at Warren. “But after yesterday''s test, her reaction was so extreme.....”
There was no way to have it both ways. Either Celine remained as she was, a woman with the mind of a six-year-old child, or... she underwent hypnotherapy, recovered her memories, and became a normal person again.
Warren listened in silence, his face growing paler by the second. If it were just for himself, he would never want Celine to forget him. But... he couldn''t bear to watch her live out her life in a fog, unable to even recognize her own family standing right in front of her.
And there was more. Celine had an incredible talent for cultivating medicinal nts. If she were well, she could achieve so much more, making a real name for herself in the world of pharmacology.
But if he made that choice, he would no longer exist in her world.
"Her constitution is weak, and the diagnostic tests have taken a toll on her. She needs to rest," Juniper said quietly as she saw Celine returning with a bouquet of flowers. "You have one week to think about it, Warren. Half of this decision is yours."
No matter what, he was her husband. He had a right to be involved.
"Okay," Warren nodded, his smile stiff. "I''ll think about it carefully."
Celine ran back inside and thrust a handful of blue roses into Juniper''s arms. "Pretty flowers for Juniper."
"Thank you." Juniper smiled and epted them all. Just as she was about to grab a tissue to wipe the dirt from Celine''s hands, Celine surprised her.
“Husband will wipe." She suddenly turned, walked over to Warren, and held out her hands.
"Alright."
Warren managed a faint, helpless smile and led her to the sink, where he washed her hands with extreme gentleness. Celine tilted her chin up and yfully sshed water on his face.
"Don''t mess around," Warren chided, but his voice was impossibly tender.
Watching the two of them, Juniper felt a tightness in her throat. This choice must be more painful for Warren than death itself.
The facilities on Liberty Ind were no match for her research institute, and Ebony Fox''s condition couldn''t wait. That night, Juniper and Shanley returned to Era City with the A-NO specimen.
Before they left, Celine clung to Juniper, crying her eyes out. Juniper promised repeatedly that she would be back in a couple of days and that they could video chat anytime. also promised to bring her new snacks.
Only then did Celine reluctantly let her go, her eyes shimmering with tears. "You have toe back, Juniper."
"I will." Juniper wiped the tears from her cheeks. "And next time, I''ll introduce you to our other brothers and sisters."
"No," Celine shook her head, her tone firm. "I only want Juniper."
Juniper was both happy and sad to hear that. Celine must have loved her so much that the only memories she retained were of her it was a good thing Harold hadn''te along. If he had, the chill in his heart would have been colder than the sea breeze.
"Go on back inside," Juniper said, adjusting the cloak around Celine''s shoulders. She then turned her
serious gaze to Warren. "She cannot
get sick for any reason in the<ping days, and you absolutely must not let her experience any major emotional swings.
