And then, through his own talent, he had climbed the ranks to be the old Lord''s personal attendant.
Eventually, he came to understand that in this sunless purgatory, a living hell where life was worse than death, only power guaranteed survival. Only status could protect the woman he loved.
When the old Lord grew frail, he seized his chance and orchestrated a takeover. At twenty-three, he became the new Lord of Liberty Ind. At twenty-four, he married Celine in a magnificent ceremony.
Everyone on Liberty Ind knew that the Lord''s wife was a simpleton. But what did it matter? Whatever Celine wanted, he would move heaven and earth to get for her.
There had been two opportunities to cure her. Once, he found a medication abroad, but on his return journey, he ran into men from the Sigma Network. A dispute over shippingnes had festered for days, and the leader of Sigma Networkunched a surprise attack, shelling his ship. Warren escaped with his life, but the precious medicine he''d worked so hard to find was lost to the inferno.
Another time, after a painstaking search, he discovered several rare herbs that might have helped Celine recover. At auction, he was prepared to spend a fortune, determined to win. But out of nowhere, someone from Subterra Vanguard appeared and swept up all the herbs.
And so, Celine''s condition had dragged on to this day...
"Honey, you don''t like it?" Celine asked in a small voice, frowning when she noticed Warren staring into space.
"I love it." Warren set the potted nt down, picked up a towel, and gently wiped the smudges from her face. His usual obsession with cleanliness vanished when it came to her.
"Oh." Celine''srge, round eyes blinked in confusion. "Then why aren''t you smiling?"
“Hmm?” Warren paused for a second before a brilliant smile spread across his face. He leaned down and pressed a soft, affectionate kiss to her forehead. "Is that better?"
"Better." Celine didn''t quite
understand, but seeing her husband smile was enough. She started to chatter on about her

Warren agreed to everything.
"So tired." After rambling on for a full hour, Celine grabbed a cup and gulped down some water. "Honey, I''m going to go pick the vegetables."
"Alright." Warren had a servant follow her to make sure she didn''t get hurt.
Soon, Celine could be seen crouching in the vegetable patch—an odd sight within the grounds of the luxurious castle-busily pulling uptro, one stalk after another, full of energy.
Though Celine''s intellect was
limited, she was a true prodigy when it came to pharmacology. She had sessfully cultivated many rare and endangered medicinal herbs. The A-NO herb, for instance, was a result of a year of her dedicated effort. She treasured it, rémning to the greenhouse every day to check on it.
She also experimented with various remedies. A few years ago, when a gue swept through Liberty Ind, it was a cure concocted by Celine that saved countless lives.
Unfortunately, the healer could not heal herself. His Celine could save others, but she couldn''t save herself.
Many renowned doctors had
examined her, and the consensus

But what could have been so traumatic? Friends? A lover? Or family?
"Still no news?” Warren asked, standing by the window, his gaze fixed gently on the girl outside.
