Chapter 777

Type 1 molecr virus? It was an ancient virus, at least a century old. It was mostly used by tribal chiefs to control their subordinates, as those poisoned would suffer immensely in theter stages if left untreated. Such a cruel concoction had long since disappeared. Why was Juniper looking it up?

"Ebony Fox..." After a few seconds of thought, Shanley''s fingers tightened, his deep eyes narrowing.

"Yes," Juniper confirmed, posing herself as her fingers flew across the keyboard. She then essed a dark website, a marketce for all sorts of rare items.

One of the ingredients for the Type 1 molecr virus was aponent named "A- NO.” Legend had it that it was a nt discovered centuries ago in the Great Rift Valley on the Fernweh Continent. Due to its special growing conditions, it was extremely difficult to cultivate. Despite its high medicinal value, it quickly went extinct.

To this day, "A-NO" had vanished without a trace. Many medical professionals and pharmacologists had never even heard of it.

Juniper searched the website thoroughly but found no sign of "A-NO."

Nothing? How could there be nothing? Juniper clenched her fists, the veins on the back of her hands standing out. The mouse in her palm creaked under the pressure, on the verge of shattering.

"Juniper." At that critical moment, arge, warm hand gently covered hers, its heat quickly seeping into her cold heart.

Juniper turned to meet the worried look in the man''s eyes, and the strength she had been forcing herself to maintainpletely shattered.

"We''ll find the antidote, right?" she asked, staring at his face, her voice hoarse.

"Of course we will," Shanley said, pulling her into his arms and enveloping herpletely. "Ebony Fox will be fine."

"I don''t want the tragedy from the past to happen all over again," Juniper whispered, her eyes red as she stared into the distance, her gaze unfocused.

Tragedy? Shanley paused for only a second before he understood. She was talking about Lemuel''s death.

He had investigated the matter privately. Lemuel had suffered from a terminal illness, and even after seeking out the best doctors, he was left with no choice but to wait for death. Later, Juniper imed there. was a rare herb at the summit of the Arctic Peaks with the same properties as a missing medicinalponent. No one believed her. So Juniper made a pact with Lemuel, promising to be back in five days and asking him to wait for her.

Little did she know, Lemuel''s condition worsened the moment she left. His final two days were spent in agony, coughing up mouthfuls of blood that flowed like water from a broken faucet, impossible to stop. After two days of torment, he passed away.

In truth, Lemuel knew his time was up and didn''t want Juniper to see him suffer.

By the time Juniper found the herb and rushed back, she was greeted only by Lemuel''s memorial service. She had always regretted it, wishing she had returned sooner... even just one day earlier, she might have

saved him. It was a pain Juniper would never forget.

That''s why she was so afraid that Ebony Fox would suffer the same agonizing death as Lemuel.

“I''m touched,” Juniper said, staring quietly at Shanley. After a few seconds, her brow rxed. “But don''t think for a second this means I''ve forgotten that you went against my orders."

Shanley froze for a moment, then a fond smile spread across his handsome face.
