Chapter 772

"Specter, Ebony Fox..." Westly pressed a finger to his nose, his eyes scanning the surroundings as he spoke with dead seriousness. "Take the west path. Stay away from the river channel."

Ewan''s men had already made their move, and the Sigma Network was on its way. They were caught in a pincer attack. As strong as they were, they''d be outnumbered and at a disadvantage.

"Oh," Juniper said, giving Westly a long, curious look.

Had she really beaten him into submission? When she first arrived, he looked like he wanted to kill her.

"Thanks," she said politely, a corner of her mouth lifting. "If you''re ever interested in joining the Subterra Vanguard,e find me. I can cure the poison in your system, and the pay is definitely better than here."

Juniper gave the man onest look before tightening her hold on Ebony Fox.

Westly froze, clearly considering Specter''s offer.

To be honest, he was tired of working for Ewan, but the poison in his body forced him to rely on the Huntsman Institute''s antidote. But Specter said she could cure him? The poison was incredibly difficult to neutralize; he had consulted countless famous doctors to no avail. Within the Institute, perhaps only the divine doctor Nocturne might stand a chance.

    Could Specter really do it?

"Which way to the river channel?" Juniper asked slowly.

"That way." Westly pointed instinctively before the reality of her question hit him. His mixed-race features twisted in astonishment. "You''re going to the river channel? Do you have a death wish?"

"Me, die?" A wicked, wild smile yed on Juniper''s pink lips. Her cool voice rang out, each word deliberate. "The person who can kill me hasn''t been born yet."

With that, Juniper, still carrying Ebony Fox, turned and walked toward the river channel.

Fearing she would jostle her sister, Juniper kept her pace steady and smooth.

Watching her go, Westly shook his head in astonishment, his eyes filled with admiration.

Damn. No wonder she became the leader of the Subterra Vanguard at such a young age. That kind of audacity? Absolutely fearless.

"When''s our leader making his move?" Westly asked a subordinate curiously.

"Westly, what are you nning?" the subordinate shot back.

"I want to see the legendary Specter tear up the battlefield."

Just talking about it made Westly''s whole body buzz with excitement. Five years ago, Specter''s skills were already terrifyingly good. After five years she must be untouchable. He wanted to see what gave her the confidence to take on two major powers at once.

On the way, Ebony Fox tried several times to get Juniper to put her down. She was weak, but not so weak she couldn''t walk.

Juniper finally grew tired of it, stopped, and said coldly, "I don''t like a sister who doesn''t listen."

The words instantly choked off whatever Ebony Fox was about to say.

"Fine, you can carry me then," Ebony Fox conceded after a few seconds of silence,

meekly tightening her arms around Juniper''s neck.

"Okay," Juniper replied, and started walking again.

"Did Shanley really notify the Sigma Network? Ebony Fox asked, nestled against Juniper''s back, feeling the warmth from her sister''s body, kter tone softened without her realizing i.  sw?ovels

"Who knows," Juniper said with a shrug, speaking casually. "I didn''t think it was necessary to involve his people, so I told him to wait for my orders before making a move."

"He''s worried about you," Ebony Fox teased with a slight smile.

Juniper didn''t respond, just kept walking.

When they reached the street, they got into a car that was waiting for them. Juniper got behind the wheel and sped toward the river dock.

They hadn''t gone far before she spotted several cars tailing them in the rearview mirror.

"It''s Ewan''s men," Ebony Fox said, looking back. "The old fool really has a death wish."

Juniper gripped the steering wheel, a

faint smile ying on her lips.

    "Good," she said nonchntly. "Let''s

y a little game with him, then. We''ll see if the Huntsman Institute''s men have improved at all."
