"Okay, okay.” Dana nodded, deeply moved, before asking hesitantly, "I heard Mr. Schwartz was injured?"
"It''s nothing," Shanley said gently, not wanting to put Juniper in a difficult position. "It''s not serious. Dana, you should go get some rest."
"Alright." Dana looked at the reconciled couple and wiped her eyes, relieved. As long as they weren''t fighting anymore.
"If you''re tired, go to sleep," Shanley said, his voice soft as he stroked Juniper''s face, seeing how she could barely keep her eyes open. "Felton can change my dressing."
Juniper didn''t respond. Instead, she took out the antiseptic and bandages and prepared to do it herself.
However, the angle was awkward. After a moment''s hesitation, she simply swung her leg over and straddled hisp, leaning forward. The cool liquid touched his feverish skin. The dual stimtion made Shanley''s body go rigid, his voice turning hoarse. "Juniper-"
“Sit still,” Juniper warned, shooting him a re.
"Okay.” Shanley didn''t dare move again, only cing a light hand on her waist to keep her from falling as he lowered his head to quietly watch her tend to the wound.
They were so close that Juniper could feel the frantic beating of his heart. She nced up, her eyes meeting his deep, bottomless gaze, and felt a tremor run through her soul.
"What are you looking at?" Shanley leaned down, the tip of his nose brushing against her cheek.
Just as he was about to move in closer-
“Done. Don''t get it wet for three days,” Juniper suddenly pulled away, slipped under the covers, and said heartlessly, "One million per dressing change. Wire it to my ount."
Shanley''s smile froze on his face, his brow furrowing in helpless
exasperation. What a little
gold-digger! Thank goodness he was rich or he wouldn''t be able to touch a single hair on her head
After cleaning up, Shanley carefully lifted the covers. Before he could even lie down, a small figure rolled into his arms Juniper''s eyes were shut tight as she pressed herself against his body.
"Sleep," Shanley whispered, leaning down to press a kiss to her forehead. Then he picked up his phone and transferred a million to her ount with the memo: *Medical Fees*.
Early the next morning, Juniper was up and ready to head back to school. When she came downstairs, she found Shanley standing by the windows, a first-aid kit in hand.
“Juniper, time to change my
dressing. Seeing her, Shanley''s lips
curved into a smile. He sat down on
the sofa naturally, his
raspy...
already sent the one million to your
ount in advance."
He thoroughly enjoyed the feeling of her sitting on hisp. One million. It was well worth it.
Juniper, with her backpack in one hand and a piece of toast in the other, stared at him as if he were insane. He got up this early just so she would personally change his dressing?
With this much energy to spare, it seemed Michael''s bullet hadn''t hit him hard enough. Besides, the wound was healing perfectly fine; it didn''t need her special attention.
"Flint." Instead of responding to Shanley, Juniper turned to his subordinate, who was holding a folder.
"Ms. Payne." Startled at being called, Flint immediately stood at attention. Ever since he found out Ms. Payne was Specter, his admiration for her had skyrocketed.
"One hundred thousand," Juniper said, lifting her chin nonchntly. "You change Shanley''s dressing."
Shanley froze. What?
“Boss.....” Flint immediately looked at Shanley, practically rubbing his hands together in anticipation. A hundred grand! Ms. Payne was so generous, and a master at taking a cut.
