"And another thing" The man didn''t even give Juniper a chance to speak, his voice rising in pitch. "You brought back a whole ship full of Sigma Network''s high-
value cargo!"
“But the main point is," he continued, each word dripping with disbelief as if recounting some bizarre fantasy, "our guys apparently missed something when they were towing the ship, and Sigma Network''s people personally delivered it to us. Sigma Network''s people! Personally! Delivered it! Did I ever think I''d see something like that in my lifetime?"
“Specter, what in the world happened out there? Did you develop a new drug and use it on their leader or something?"
It was the only exnation they coulde up with for such a drastic change in his behavior.
“He.....” Juniper''s lips moved, but she didn''t know how to exin. The base didn''t know she was in a rtionship, let alone that her boyfriend was the leader of Sigma Network-Subterra Vanguard''s number one enemy. If they found out, the others would probably rush over and tear him apart.
"He what?" Before the man could press further, someone else snatched the phone. “Juniper, are you hurt? How dare that old bastard from Sigma Network send you to Liberty Ind?"
Hurt? Juniper undid the top button of her cor and nced in the mirror. The angry red marks on her neck were starkly visible. Damn that Shanley. He was so strong; he''d almost choked her to death!
“Lue is safe, and so am I. The matter is resolved," Juniper said, her gaze drifting out the window. "In any case, from now on, Subterra Vanguard doesn''t need to fear Sigma Network."
"Why not?" the men from Subterra Vanguard asked, their curiosity piqued even more.
Unable to find a usible exnation, Juniper blurted out the most ridiculous reason she could think of. "I beat him into submission. That''s right, I put him in his ce."
The men on the other end were utterly bewildered. Had Specter lost her mind?
"I have another calling in, I have to go,” Juniper said, hanging up on them and immediately answering the new call.
"A chemical leak at theb?" Her expression changed instantly. "Head to Australis Base 1," she ordered Lue.
"Not Cloudscape Community?"
Lue asked, confused. To be honest she was really looking- forward to seeing Juniper..make Shanley pay and watching that arrogant old man squirm.
"There''s a leak at the base. A
researcher has been poisoned amet
his life is on the line. Juniper said
#mis
grimly after hanging up. "Step on it."
"Got it."

Realizing the gravity of the situation, Lue immediately spun the steering wheel.
Meanwhile, the moment Shanley''s nended, he called Dana. "Is Juniper home?" he asked, his voice low.
"Ms. Payne?" Dana was confused.
"Didn''t Ms. Payne go abroad with et
you, si2 I thought you were both Com ock tomorrow content
"She''s not home?" Shanley''s grip on his phone tightened, his voice impossibly hoarse.
"No," Dana replied after a brief pause.
"Did she send anyone to pick up her luggage?” Shanley''s voice trembled slightly. "No, not that either."
Dana finally realized something was very wrong. Mr. Schwartz''s voice was strained, and she could clearly hear the panic in it.
Had they fought? That seemed impossible. How could Mr. Schwartz ever dare to argue with Ms. Payne?
