Shanley shot to his feet. Though his expression remained stoic, the violent tremor in his tall frame betrayed his panic.
Felton and Flint exchanged a look before immediately splitting up to find any news of Juniper. They returned quickly with the results.
"Boss, we''ve searched everywhere. There''s no sign of Ms. Payne," Felton reported.
"The surveince cameras in the hotel hallways and at the entrance have all been destroyed," Flint added. "Whoever did it was a pro. Even the Cybeic Shadows'' tech team couldn''t recover the footage."
Even his own people couldn''t recover it? Across the globe, there was only one person Shanley could think of with that kind of skill: Specter.
"Don''t bother looking," Juniper said, a hint of satisfaction in her voice as she watched Shanley''sposure crumble. A wave of grim pleasure washed over her. What was he so worried about? The real panic had yet to begin.
“Her phone..... surely the great leader of Sigma Network hasn''t forgotten this?" Juniper pulled a phone from her pocket and tossed it onto the table, a cold, triumphant smirk ying on her lips. "Or should I call you... Shanley Schwartz." From this moment on, the tables had turned. She was in control.
Shanley Schwartz? Hearing the name, Lue''s eyes widened in shock, nearly popping out of her head. What did Specter-no, Juniper-just say? Could the leader of Sigma Network actually be... Shanley?
Lue stared at the man across from them, feeling as if she''d stumbled upon a world-shattering secret. She swallowed hard. It was over. Everything was over. Shanley was so, so screwed.
How could something so absurd happen in this world? Two mortal enemies, locked in a years-long hunt to kill each other, were now... a couple? It was the biggest joke she had ever heard.
No wonder Juniper hadn''t pressed the detonator on that micro-bomb earlier. If she had, she would be a widow by now.
So, Shanley was the leader of Sigma Network. And judging by Juniper''s actions, she was about to settle the score, big time. This was getting good! Lue decided she could rx and just enjoy the show.
Shanley picked up the phone, carefully examining it to confirm it was indeed Juniper''s.
"You''re asking to die!" he roared, all reason vanishing in an instant. He lunged forward with blinding speed his hands mping around O Juniper''s throat.
“You—” Lue started to move to help, but Felton and Flint dragged her aside.
Fine. They wanted to y with fire.
"I''ll ask you one more time. Where is Juniper?" Shanley snarled, his grip tightening on the fabric of Juniper''s jacket. Veins bulged on his forehead as he bellowed, "I''m warning you, if a single hair on her head is harmed, everyone in Subtema Vanguard will die with her."
Watching Shanley''s furious, desperate rage, Juniper felt a flicker of confusion, a sour ache blooming in her chest. How could Shanley be the head of Sigma Network? She hated Sigma Network with every fiber of her being, so why did it have to be him?
"If you want her to live, you''ll do as I say," Juniper forced out through the pain, her lips barely moving. "Let... go."
Shanley hesitated for a few seconds before releasing his grip, forcing himself to calm down. "Tell me. As long as she''s alive, I''ll agree to anything."
"Anything?" Juniper''s eyes narrowed into a cold smile. "Including your life?"
"Of course," Shanley answered without a moment''s hesitation, his voice low and raspy but deadly serious. “Name your price."
Juniper said nothing, her gaze falling on the share transfer agreement on the table. “Felton, tear it up,” Shanley ordered icily, his eyes never leaving Juniper.
"Yes, sir." Felton knew better than to hesitate where Ms. Payne was concerned. He immediately ripped the contract to shreds.
"What else?" Shanley asked, his voice a low growl as he stared at Juniper, his jaw clenched.
