"So, that''s his game," Shanley murmured, his eyes turning colder as he nced to the side. It was the same tactic he had once used to bomb a Subterra Vanguard ship. Now, it was payback time.
“Forget this ship. Everyone else, get after Specter," Shanley ordered, his voiceced with ice.
All the port exits were sealed. In this war, only the living would walk away.
“Juniper, that bastard from Sigma Network is on our tail!" Lue clenched her fists as she watched the tracker''s disy. "That old man... making a move in this thick fog? He''s got a death wish!"
"Fine by me." Juniper set down her milkshake, picked up her weapon, and walked out of the cabin. "Get the drones in the air. I want the exact location of Sigma Network''s leader."
"Drones away,” Luemanded, and the machines took to the sky once more, dodging Sigma Network''s interference to send back a clear picture.
"You stay here andmand the others," Juniper said, her tone serious as she looked at Lue. "And bring Sigma Network''s cargo ship back to our base."
"What?" Lue stared, not quite processing it. "We''re not fighting them?"
"Whether their leader lives or dies doesn''t matter as much as getting all our people out alive." Juniper''s lips curved into a faint smile. "I estimate that cargo is worth at least three hundred million. Once you have the cargo, don''t get tied down in a fight. Get our people out of here immediately. I''m all that''s needed to handle Sigma Network."
Once she took care of their leader, the rest would be nothing more than a disorganized mess.
"How can you be sure he''s on that ship?" Lue grabbed Juniper''s arm, her face etched with worry. "What if that old bastard is just bluffing, trying to lure you into a trap?"
"I saw his gloves." As she spoke, Juniper loaded her weapon, her gaze unyielding. "The bullet from that gun nearly shattered my skull. You think I could ever forget them?"
So, it was still anyone''s guess who would die today. But one thing was for sure-it wouldn''t be her.
"BANG!"
The moment the words left her mouth, a deafening gunshot echoed across the sea, followed by the relentless "ping-ping-ping" of bullets striking metal
ss shattered as a
round flew toward them.
"Look out!" Juniper shoved Lue to the ground, a murderous glint in her eyes. "The
old fox is certainly impatient this time. Remember what I told you."
With that, she pushed Lue away and leaped onto a small, prepped submarine, her figure quickly vanishing into the thick fog.
“Juniper!” Lue''s face paled. Was that crazy girl really nning to take on the leader of Sigma Network all by herself?
"Damn you, Sigma Network!” Lue gritted her teeth and yelled into herms, “I want you to turn their ships into swiss cheese! Fire at will!"
"BANG! BANG! BANG!"
The two sides exchanged heavy fire, the ships rocking violently amidst the deafening roar of battle.
"We''ll bring up the rear with this ship and make it look like the boss is still on board, Lue ordered grimly. "And whatever you do, do not damage that
three hundred-million-fel
ship!"
"Yes!" her subordinates replied respectfully.
She had to stabilize the situation here quickly, so she could go help Juniper. After all, that girl wasn''t alone anymore. She had a family and someone she loved Unlike her... if she died out here, Juniper would probably be the only one to cry for her.
So, she could die, but Juniper couldn''t.
