Chapter 1134

    ?Chapter 1134:

Elena met his fury with icy contempt. Age, she believed, was no substitute for real skill. She replied, her voice cold as marble, “Seniority doesn’t equal talent. If you were truly capable, His Majesty wouldn’t still be hovering between life and death.”

Unustomed to such open defiance, Dewayne’s temper exploded. “His Majesty’s condition is grave! If I hadn’t intervened, he’d have been gone long ago! What gives an amateur like you the right to challenge me?”

Elena’s disdain deepened, her words sharp. “If youck the skill, just admit it. Stop hiding behind excuses and bluster.”

The provocation worked. Dewayne, pushed to his limit, shot back, “If you think you’re so brilliant, then heal His Majesty yourself! Should you seed, I’ll walk away from medicine forever. But if you fail, you’ll cripple your own hands!”

A steely light flickered in Elena’s gaze—he was digging his own grave. “You have a deal.”

At Elena’s confident reply, Dewayne let out a derisiveugh. “You reckless girl. Only the Healer stands a chance of curing His Majesty. Are you actually convinced you can seed in healing him?”

A steady gaze met his challenge. “We’ll see,” Elena said, her tone unfazed.

Dewayne fixed her with a dark look, fully expecting her to fail. To him, she was nothing more than a naive upstart with a dangerous amount of confidence.

No one understood the King’s condition better than Dewayne. He had watched the royal health fade for years, keeping the King alive with transfusions and rare medicine from Gleyross Hospital. It was nothing short of madness for Elena to step up and im she could cure the King. In this world, only the Healer could save him.

Calm andposed, Elena moved to the King’s bedside. Katy, noticing Elena was about to treat the King, frowned and turned to Dewayne, her voice hushed. “Dr. Nguyen, are you seriously going to stand by and let her try? She doesn’t even have a medical license. The fact that she managed to heal His Royal Highness must have been aplete fluke. What if she ends up harming His Majesty?”

A cold look flickered in Dewayne’s expression. “Do you realize what happens if you put His Majesty in danger? You could be executed for less.”

Katy paused, and a new understanding dawned on her. Dewayne had a clever scheme brewing. If Elena’s treatment failed, or if the King so much as winced in pain, me would fall squarely on her shoulders. In that moment, a death sentence seemed almost guaranteed.

Quietly, Katy watched the proceedings, a sly grin tugging at her lips as Elena leaned in to check the King’s pulse.

A momentter, Elena produced a set of sterile needles from her case.

The sight drew a scoff from Katy. In her mind, Elena was just putting on a show for the uninformed, passing off her makeshift remedy as real medicine. Nobody with true medical knowledge would ever use such tricks—certainly not on a dying King.

Dewayne was a top medical expert, and despite his efforts, he could only prolong the King’s life by a few years. The King’s days were numbered. Without the Healer’s intervention, he would be lucky to survive until the end of the week. Katy felt that Elena was steering herself into a catastrophe.

A few careful movements and Elena pricked the king’s finger. The wound produced several drops of thick, foul-smelling blood. A frown settled on her face as she asked, “Tell me, how long has His Majesty been locked in aa?”

Sarcasmced Katy’s words. “Oh, now you’re worried? Where’s the confidence you bragged about earlier? There’s no backing out, not when everyone saw you injure him. If you fail to cure him, it’s basically attempted murder!”

The thought of Elena in prison thrilled Katy. She hoped for nothing less than to see Elena behind bars.
