Chapter 1109

    ?Chapter 1109:

With the Harper siblings refusing to give ground, Mara shifted her gaze to Jolie, ying the sympathy card. “Jolie, we’re your guests. Is this really how you treat people under your roof?”

Mara had expected Jolie to smooth everything over and let bygones be bygones.

But to Mara’s astonishment, Jolie’s answer was calm and unwavering. “This is Elena’s room. Everything here is hers. I don’t have the right to make that decision. Ifpensation is owed, that’s entirely for her to decide.”

Mara was livid as she pointed at Jolie and Elena. “You’re her mother! How could your opinion carry no weight? If you saidpensation wasn’t necessary, do you really think she’d go against you?”

Jolie remainedposed. “I’m standing by Elena’s choice.”

Elena hadn’t expected her typically gentle mother to speak with such resolve.

The entire Harper family had taken Elena’s side.

Elena turned to Brody’s parents, her voice cold and sharp. “Since we’re rtives, I’ll let the damage to the cosmetics and perfume go. But the sixty million for ruining my design drafts—are you transferring it, or writing a check?”

Kylo and Lisette stayed silent, too afraid to argue.

Mara, realizing the Harpers meant business, yanked Brody’s hand and began walking away. “You’re allpletely out of your minds! We’re done here!” But Brody pulled away from her grip, spun back around, and lunged toward Elena with a sudden kick. Elena stepped aside effortlessly, and he hit the floor with a heavy thud. His loud wailing rang out across the room. “You’re mean! I’ll get you for this! You’ll be sorry, you horrible witch!” Elena stood still, pletely unbothered.

Mara rushed to him in a frenzy. “Oh, Brody, my darling, where are you feeling pain? Let Grandma see!”

She crouched to lift him, but Brody shoved her off and pointed at Elena with tear-filled fury. “I don’t want you to hug me! Hit her! She deserves it!”

Trying to soothe him, Mara forced a smile. “Alright, alright. Grandma will go teach her a lesson. Don’t cry, sweetie. Just watch—Grandma’s going to deal with her…”

Mara raised her arm, intending to throw a few dramatic ps to calm him down. But before her hand could fall, three tall figures stepped forward, forming a barrier between her and Elena.

Jeffry, Ellis, and Louis stood in a solid line, their presencemanding and unshakable.

Mara came to an abrupt halt.

Jeffry’s eyes narrowed slightly. “Out of respect for Grandpa, I’ll call you Great-Aunt. But don’t forget where you are—this is the Harper residence.”

Of the three, Jeffry bore the strongest resemnce to Alexander, carrying the same quiet authority.

Mara had always ced herself above the younger generation, conveniently ignoring the fact that her household still relied heavily on Alexander’s support. Even knowing that, being openly reprimanded by someone younger left her pride wounded. “I… I wasn’t actually going to hit her!” she stammered. “I was just ying along to calm Brody. You’re blowing this out of proportion.”

Jeffry’s face remained unreadable. “That boy needs discipline. If you won’t take responsibility, someone else will.”

His words struck a nerve, and Mara’s temper ignited. She was still a senior in the family, yet Jeffry had spoken to her without a hint of deference. Her expression turned cold. “What happened to the Harper family’s manners? Even your father wouldn’t have dared speak to me like that—and now you think you can? I’ll be having a serious word with Alexander about the way he raised all of you!”

Jeffry remained unfazed. “What goes on in this household doesn’t concern you.”
