Chapter 1055

    ?Chapter 1055:

N’s scandal cast shadows across the Azure Dragon Unit Base.

Lamont couldn’t hide his disappointment. When N asked to speak with him, he didn’t hesitate to turn her away.

The reputation of the Azure Dragon Unit Base might have crumbledpletely if not for Elena’s efforts. After the mission, she had be a sensation. Yet Wesley stewed in silent bitterness. Inside their room, he wrapped his arms tightly around Elena, tucking his chin against the curve of her neck. “Instead ofing to me, you went straight to Kason. Do you think I’m less capable than him?” His voice practically dripped with envy.

Rolling her eyes, Elena let out a sigh. Not again. Every time Kason’s name came up, Wesley’s jealousy exploded out of nowhere. She didn’t bother to reply, which only seemed to aggravate him more. He bit down in irritation.

“Ouch!” A hiss escaped Elena as she frowned. “What are you doing? Trying to leave bite marks? You’re not some stray dog!”

Trying to push him away, she found herself surprised as Wesley finally let go, recing his bite with a featherlight kiss on the same spot.

“You’re dodging the question again. Who’s more capable, me or Kason, hmm?” His words came out rough, his breath warming the side of her neck and making her shiver.

Elena squirmed ufortably. “Just drop it.”

His arms only tightened, a dangerous note in his voice. “Not unless you answer me. You’re not getting a wink of sleep tonight if you keep quiet.”

Heat radiated between them, Elena hyperaware of his body pressed against hers. His scent of cedarwood seemed to flood the space. She twitched her nose slightly, unable to help breathing it in, her heart fluttering unexpectedly. Somewhere along the line, she had grown attached to that scent. Its clean richness had be something she longed for without realizing it.

Nothing escaped Wesley’s notice. Any flicker of emotion from Elena, and he caught it right away. A sly smile tugged at his lips, his gaze full of mischief. “Guess you’re not that tired after all…”

He trailed kisses along her neck, his hands wandering to her waist. Suddenly, the air turned heavy with anticipation. The hush of the room amplified their quickening breaths.

There was no mistaking Wesley’s intent. His touch was bold, and he drew out Elena’s longing with practiced ease.

Her cheeks flushed, and her eyes shimmered with unshed tears, soft and luminous like petals fresh with morning dew—innocent and tempting all at once. A pulsing vein stood out on Wesley’s forehead while longing stormed behind his eyes. Desire nearly overwhelmed him. He swept her up and held her close, and they lost themselves in each other, the intensity in his gaze leaving no doubt of his need as the room seemed to ring with their tangled passion.

The unfamiliar closeness surprised them both, drawing them together with a depth that left them breathless and clinging to each other. Wesley never wanted to let her go, not even for a second.

After everything, Wesley melted into the sheets, contentment radiating from his face.

Downstairs, Arion paced anxiously, eyes darting toward the staircase every few seconds. Wesley hadn’te down yet, and he dared not disturb him, but there was trouble at thepany that needed Wesley’s immediate attention.

Word from Felix arrived—something had gone terribly wrong with a big project at the Spencer Group, and the authorities had detained severalpany leaders. Everyone looked to Wesley to fix things, and the tension downstairs thickened with every passing minute.

Determination set in. Arion squared his shoulders and climbed the stairs, hesitating only briefly before knocking on Wesley’s door.
