?Chapter 1035:
Wesley leaned in with a grin. “Did you miss me?”
It had barely been a few hours since they’d parted, so Elena wondered what there was to miss. “I didn’t,” she replied, offering nothing but honesty.
For a moment, Wesley sat frozen, his hand stopping halfway to his hair, the water still glistening on his fingers. A tight, frustratedugh almost broke free as he tried to mask the sting in her answer. Nights felt strangely empty now that he didn’t have her beside him, the emptiness making sleep elusive. The idea of convincing her toe over had crossed his mind, but she seemed perfectly content where she was.
Letting him know she’d stay another day, Elena exined she’d return to the base after tomorrow’s party. Wesley epted the news without protest, his voice gentle.
Sunrise found Evelyn and Ste bursting into the National Security Bureau. No one risked blocking their way—Ste’s father, the mayor, held too much sway in the city—so the pair marched straight to the floor where Lydia’s office sat. Evelyn nced around. “Where’s Lydia Hunt? Bring her out here!”
Every inch of their attire screamed wealth, their designer outfits sending a clear message: they were not to be trifled with. When a trembling employee pointed them in the right direction, Evelyn clicked across the floor in her stilettos and sent Lydia’s office door flying open with a single kick.
The crash echoed as the door mmed against the wall, ricocheting back with a sharp thud that made Lydia look up from her work. With a cool stare, Lydia fixed her gaze on the intruders.
Seeing Lydia’s face, Evelyn’s fury burned hotter. There stood the woman she med for her husband’s wandering eyes.
Without waiting, Evelyn snatched a vase from a nearby table and hurled it across the room.
ss exploded as Lydia stepped swiftly aside, shards spraying across the floor.
Lydia asked coldly, “Where did this wild animale from, running around and biting people?”
With a look that dripped with contempt, Evelyn locked eyes with Lydia. “You shameless homewrecker—how dare you act so brazenly? Since you’re bold enough to wreck my family, then don’t me me for what happens next!”
Gasps rippled through the workce, leaving a stunned hush in their wake. Lydia’s colleagues couldn’t resist whispering.

“Captain Hunt seducing someone else’s husband? Now that is a juicy scandal!”
“So that’s the real story? Captain Hunt is the other woman?”
“That couldn’t be true. Captain Hunt just doesn’te across as someone who’d ever do something like that.”
“It has to be true—look, the wife herself is here confronting Captain Hunt. How could it be otherwise?”
“The wife versus the mistress? This is about to get wild!”
Curiosity and disdain danced in Lydia’s colleagues’ eyes as they threw side nces at her, their whispers growing louder.
A chill crept into Lydia’s expression, and she stared down at Evelyn. “Be careful what you use me of. If your husband can’t keep his vows, maybe you should be talking to him instead of embarrassing yourself here. I don’t even know the guy.”
“Still denying it?” Evelyn snapped as she yanked a photo from her purse and shoved it in Lydia’s face. “Look at this! Weren’t you with him? Ever heard of personal boundaries, or do you just enjoy getting close to someone else’s man?”
Recognition shed across Lydia’s features as she spotted Jeffry in the picture. For a moment, her breath caught—so this was Jeffry’s wife. Shock settled over her, leaving her silent. Never in her wildest dreams had she imagined she’d be branded the other woman.
