Chapter 948

    ?Chapter 948:

Arion frowned. The gravity of the situation was pretty much like the sky falling. With his voice low and steady, he delivered the blow. “Mr. Spencer… Scarface just entered Houis. He’s hunting you now.”

Scarface—the name alone could paralyze veterans. He wasn’t just any mercenary. Hemanded the most brutal private army in existence. Arion had once served under him. Loyalty wasn’t in Scarface’s vocabry, but murder for hire was second nature.

A sinking weight settled in Arion’s chest. “Mr. Spencer, I can’t take Scarface. If he finds you, I won’t be able to stop him.”

Felix’s eyes darkened. For Arion to admit defeat without a fight—this was serious.

Thinking fast, Felix suggested, “Should we mobilize the full Abyss Cell?”

But Arion shook his head firmly. “They’ll only die faster. Scarface eats through opposition like fire through dry grass.”

Felix pursed his lips. Could a single man really pose such a threat?

All eyes turned to Wesley, who remained utterly silent, unreadable as ever. Felix asked, “Mr. Spencer, what’s our next move?”

Wesley gave azy smile. “Scarface’s boots just touched Houis soil. We’ve got time. No need to act like we’re under siege.”

Arion, wound tight as a coiled spring, didn’t share Wesley’s sense of calm. He couldn’t shake the feeling that Wesley was underestimating the threat bearing down on them.

“Scarface is not someone you can outrun, Mr. Spencer,” Arion warned, his voiceced with urgency. “He wille. Sooner than you think.”

Though worry flickered behind Felix’s eyes, he stood with the quiet confidence of someone who had followed Wesley through worse. Experience had taught him that Wesley never moved without a n — even if he never shared it.

Without hesitation, Wesley snuffed out his cigarette and rose to his feet. “We’re going to the Azure Dragon Unit Base.”

Brows knitted, Arion turned toward Felix, frustration leaking into his tone. “Why isn’t Mr. Spencer taking this seriously? Scarface isn’t some street thug—he’s a trained killer. I wouldn’t survive a minute if he targeted me.”

Felix followed Wesley, his pace unhurried. “Mr. Spencer’s not the type to panic. You should try following his rhythm instead of spiraling.”

No rebuttal came. Arion swallowed his protest and followed in silence.

Inside the car, Wesley imed the back seat without fanfare. Felix took the driver’s spot, and Arion sat beside him, still stiff with apprehension. As the engine started, Arion nced over his shoulder.

“Mr. Spencer, let me stay with you. I’ll feel better knowing I’m nearby.”

Wesley tilted his head, half-lidded eyes giving nothing away. His reply was simple, almost indifferent. “Sure.”

Upon arrival at the Azure Dragon Unit Base, Felix excused himself to handle matters tied to the Spencer Group. Without lingering, he slipped behind the wheel and drove off, leaving Wesley in Arion’spany.

That day, after refreshing herself upstairs, Elena descended the staircase — only to be surprised by the sight of Wesley in the living room. He hadn’t returned home the entire night.

“Hey,” Wesley said with disarming ease, gesturing toward the dining table. “Come grab a bite.”

Her gaze drifted toward the spread—every dishid out was something she loved. Without saying a word, she took a moment to collect her thoughts, then went to the table and sat down with practicedposure.
