?Chapter 945:
Closing the distance between them, Jonah approached Elena with calm intent. “Miss Harper, may I have a word?”
Elena never forgot a face. One nce, and she instantly ced him—the same young doctor who had declined N earlier that day. Why was he approaching her now? She pushed aside her curiosity and rose from her seat. “Alright.”
Back at the bar, only Charlette and Ellis remained, the mood still and expectant.
It was Charlette who broke the silence. “Mr. Harper, I had no idea Elena was your sister. Small world, don’t you think?”
Ellis didn’t even blink at her attempt at conversation. His face stayed nk, offering no reply.
Charlette didn’t let his cold demeanor rattle her. In fact, should he suddenly warm up to her, she might find him less interesting.
Tilting her head slightly, she rested her chin on her hand, letting her posture shift just enough to entuate her figure. With a dazzling smile, she lifted her eyes to meet his. “Since you’re Elena’s brother, calling you ‘Mr. Harper’ feels too stiff. Would it be alright if I just call you Ellis?”
Even under the moody lighting, the curve of her lips and the glow in her eyes drew attention with ease. The way she spoke his name carried a teasing elegance, light and deliberate.
Ellis nced downward, a shadow of a frown appearing between his brows. He didn’t respond right away, yet Charlette continued to watch him, her gaze unwavering, full of quiet confidence.
Eventually, he spoke in a cool, detached tone. “Do as you please.”
He still sounded detached, but that didn’t stop her smile from widening. “Ellis,” she said again, almost like a whisper.
His expression didn’t shift, but the subtle flicker of hisshes gave him away for just a second.
Just down the corridor, Jonah stood opposite Elena, his tone direct and to the point. “Miss Harper, do you know the Healer?”
The question caught Elena off guard, and her eyebrows lifted slightly.

“I think most people have at least heard of the Healer.”
Jonah gave a small shake of his head. “I saw you earlier today—right outside the OR.”
Elena said nothing, her expression unreadable, waiting for him to continue.
He went on, “Right after you disappeared, the Healer walked into the operating room. Almost the same height, same build.”
That level of observation surprised her—she hadn’t expected anyone, let alone him, to notice so much. With the hallway full of people and all attention locked on N, she’d assumed she’d gone unseen. Clearly, she had underestimated Jonah.
Offering neither confirmation nor denial, she met his gaze and asked coolly, “So what exactly are you implying?”
That calm, unwavering tone wasn’t what Jonah had anticipated. Herposure surprised him. It was all just a hunch. He had no proof she was the Healer. Now, facing her cool response, his confidence faltered.
“I apologize,” he finally said, voice low. “I overstepped.”
Elena didn’t seem bothered. Without a trace of resentment, she walked away. She exchanged a few words with Ellis before slipping out of the bar into the night.
By the time Elena and Charlette returned to the vi, the house was cloaked in shadows—every window dark, not a single light on. Wesley hadn’te home yet. Lately, his schedule had grown erratic, his behavior increasingly guarded. She noticed the shift but chose not to confront him.
