Chapter 914

    ?Chapter 914:

Few knew the truth behind its creation, but Elena did. She had crafted that exact pill herself, long ago, while studying the Healer’s original medicinal texts. Most people were aware that the dietary supplement had healing powers, but what they didn’t know was that there were two types: pill A and pill B. One was a cure, while the other was toxic.

Manufactured for recovery and vitality, pill A was the one sold and circted—safe, effective, dependable. But the pill currently in N’s possession was not that one. It was pill B—its dark counterpart. A form with deadly properties unless administered under highly specific, rare conditions.

That particr batch had been one of Elena’s earliest experiments. Still learning dosage control, she’d miscalcted the ratios and overused arsenic. The result wasn’t useless—it became a potent antidote, effective only when countering certain toxins. But it was never meant for standard use.

Only ten of them existed, and everyst one had been handed over to her mentor, Commander Rayne. He’d kept them on hand for emergencies, especially during missions in snake-infested mountains.

Not once did Elena imagine one would fall into someone else’s hands—let alonend with N, who clearly had no idea what she was holding.

Across the room, Lucinda curled her lip. “Oh, please. Spare us. That’s a lifesaving pill—you know, the kind worth more than a mansion? You wouldn’t even be able to look at one, let alone know anything about it.”

The temptation tough nearly escaped Elena. Afford one? She’d created the thing from scratch. Buying one had never crossed her mind. Rather than argue with ignorance, she turned toward Glenn, her voice calm but firm. “If you don’t want to risk killing Deputy Commander Aston, stop right now. That pill’s a B-type. It’s meant for poison emergencies only. Giving it to someone healthy could poison them.”

Confusion passed over Glenn’s face as he processed her words. “Pill B? I’ve never heard of dietary supplements having ssifications. Where did you learn that?”

A subtle shift passed through the room. For the first time, doubt had begun to creep into the air.

Noticing the hesitation, N’s jaw tightened. Her tone lost its warmth. “Glenn, this pill was gifted to me directly by the Healer. I’m not just connected—I’m about to be the Healer’s disciple.”

A pause. Then her voice sharpened, like a knife sliding across ss. “If there really were two versions, don’t you think I’d have been told? If you’d rather trust some outsider who’s clearly clueless about actual medicine, be my guest. I’ll take the pill back, and you can treat Deputy Commander Aston however you see fit. I won’t be responsible for what happens next.”

Panic erupted the moment N announced stepping away from Lamont’s case. Scornful looks were cast Elena’s way.

“Glenn, please don’t listen to this woman. She doesn’t even work here. Dr. Vance is practically a disciple of the Healer—how could she possibly be wrong?”

“That’s right. We’ve been practicing medicine for decades and never once heard of any so-called ‘pill A’ or ‘pill B.’ This woman is clearly making things up.”

With her chin lifted high and eyes sharp, Lucinda didn’t waste the chance to strike Elena. “You’re just bitter. N’s the one the Healer chose, so now you’re lying to make N look bad. It’s pathetic. No one’s buying it. You should just leave the base.”

Turning back to Glenn, Lucinda pushed harder. “You probably don’t know this, but that woman isn’t a doctor. She arrived today as a temporary research hire. The institute didn’t even want her. She has no real skills. She’s jealous, in and simple—and she’s causing problems on purpose. You can’t take her words seriously.”

Lucinda was still holding a grudge from being humiliated in the cafeteria earlier. Now, this moment felt like payback. From her perspective, with N about to be the Healer’s official disciple, the pecking order was about to change. Elena wouldn’t be the only one outranked—everyone would have to step aside. That someone like Elena—pretty face, no prestige—still dared to challenge N enraged her.
