Chapter 901

    ?Chapter 901:

Jeffry’s head tilted. “Wait. Isn’t that where Ellis works?”

This caught Elena off guard. Her brows drew together. She hadn’t known that. So, Ellis had been stationed at the Azure Dragon Unit Base all along. She was aware that Ellis did ssified military research, but he’d never gone into specifics, and she never pushed him for more. The notion that they would work at the same ce had never urred to her.

“Ellis is assigned there too?” she asked, still processing it.

Jeffry gave a short nod. “He left for the base just yesterday. Since you’ll be stationed there too, look out for him if something goes wrong and I’m out of reach—got it?”

He didn’t press her for a reason. Instead, he focused on making sure she’d have backup if things went south.

    Elena answered, “I will.”

Once Jeffry had showered and changed, he stepped out dressed in a crisp suit—theposed, untouchable CEO of Harper Group once more.

Elena had already reached out to Kason by email, asking him to speed up their clearance into the Azure Dragon Unit Base.

Efficient as ever, Kason had everything arranged by the next day. Special entry passes, full authorization—he had handled it all without a hitch.

With Wesley caught up in other matters, it was just Elena and Charlette making the early morning drive toward the base.

At the checkpoint, two soldiers nked the entrance, rifles slung across their chests. As soon as their vehicle neared, it was stopped.

    Elena rolled the window down.

One of the soldiers spotted her and was momentarily dazzled by her beauty. He quickly masked the reaction with a cold, practiced tone. “This area’s restricted. No civilian ess. Turn around.”

But before she could say a word, Kason approached, leading a small group in uniform.

The moment the soldiers at the entrance saw Kason, they snapped to full attention. “Good morning, Major General Garrett!”

Kason gave a curt nod. “They’re new for the research team. Let them through.”

Not a single protest followed. The soldiers practically scrambled to open the gate.

Elena met Kason’s eyes and offered a short nod of gratitude before driving forward.

From the passenger seat, Charlette gave a low whistle. “Mr. Spencer better get here soon… Any slower, and someone else might sweep Elena off her feet.”

Charlette did not need to ask. That look in Kason’s eyes wasn’t subtle—he clearly had feelings for Elena. But it probably flew right over Elena’s head. She was too focused on work to notice things like that.

Charlette had no intention of letting Elena in on anything. She was firmly rooting for Wesley being with Elena.

Once the car was parked, Elena stepped out and made her way straight to Kason. “Major General Garrett, I have a question for you.”

Kason’s expression shifted when he noticed the distant glint in her gaze. There was a pause, and then a quiet correction. “Just Kason is fine.”

A soft chuckle escaped Elena. It was only a formality, and since he insisted, she didn’t press the matter. “Alright, Kason. Do you know who leads the Azure Dragon Unit?”

“Commander Rayne,” Kason said without hesitation. “We’ve crossed paths before.”

Excitement flickered in her eyes as she nodded quickly. “Yes, that’s my… Well, I would like to see Commander Rayne. Can you bring me to him?”
