Chapter 888

    ?Chapter 888:

Elena’s eyes were intensely red as she made a swift, precise cut through the closest assassin’s wrist tendon. In the same movement, she forcefully took the gun from his grasp.

Her action was too fast for anyone to see clearly. The assassin was instantly on the ground, clutching his injured wrist, his face contorted in agony. For a brief moment, the rest of the Shadow assassins stood still, surprised. Then, they made sounds of disapproval toward the fallen assassin, believing he had simply been careless and allowed Elena an opportunity to strike.

Within Shadow’s base, there was no friendly teamwork. It was a ce where strength determined who lived, and everyone else was seen as a rival. Therefore, when one of them suffered an injury, no kindness was shown, only scorn. They felt the fallen assassin had disgraced the Shadow. They worried that if news of this spread, people might think the Shadow’s skilled members were nothing more than violent criminals who couldn’t even defeat a woman.

The rest of the assassins did not consider Elena a significant threat. However, immediately after that, she began shooting. The assassins who were slower to react fell quickly and inrge numbers.

“Mr. Miller?” The remaining assassins turned to Earle, waiting for his instructions.

One of the assassins brought a chair over, and Earle sat down in it, casually crossing his long legs.

Earle observed Elena with a calm and thoughtful expression, noticing the intense anger on her face. It seemed as though she would kill him without a second thought.

He made a quick gesture with his hand, and one of the assassins handed him a lit cigarette. He inhaled the smoke and then slowly exhaled. His green eyes showed no emotion or indication of his thoughts. He spoke with a cold tone, “Do not harm her.”

None of the assassins dared to disobey Earle, even though their faces showed clear annoyance. They wondered what Elena had done to make their leader make this decision. Earle was not known for being lenient with women. Those who had ever opposed him had all ended up being sold in a secret auction, treated like objects.

However, even though Elena had held a knife against his throat and killed his subordinates, he was now telling them not to touch her.

Still, whether they agreed with it or not, they had to obey hismands. One after another, they put down their guns.

The Shadow assassins moved in a circle around Elena, attacking her from every direction. The fight became violent and intense. Many of them were shot and fell before the rest could even reach her as she eventually ran out of bullets.

Lydia, her clothes torn and stained crimson, her body screaming in protest with every shallow breath, still pushed herself, inch by agonizing inch, toward Elena. These assassins had figured that once Elena’s gun was out of the picture, taking her down would be a cakewalk. They’d smugly assumed her earlier advantage was solely due to the firepower in her hands, a crutch they themselves hadn’t possessed.

But they soon realized they were wrong. Every single time one of them dared to step up to her, they ended up clutching a newly acquired injury—some were just superficial cuts, others were bone-deep.

It was only then, watching theirrades get systematically dismantled, that the sheer, terrifying reality of who they were dealing with finally mmed into their thick skulls. Their initial cockiness evaporated, reced by a primal fear that tightened their chests. Now, every swing, every block, every desperate move was fueled by the raw instinct to survive.
