    The ever-efficient butler had already had the entire ce spick-and-span and was standing at the grand entrance with the rest of the impably dressed staff. The moment Wesley came into view, two perfectly aligned rows of staff members greeted him in unison. “Wee back, Mr. Spencer!”


    The fancy lights and decorations hit Elena all at once, and she felt like she’d walked right into a movie scene.


    Wesley, though, had seen this kind of thing a million times, so he simply gave a little nod.


    Once inside, Felix herded the teachers and doctors off to the side to wait. After Wesley finally plopped himself down, Felix began rattling off reports about the work.


    Elena turned to the butler, her eyes scanning the room. “Hey, where’s the kitchen?”


    The butler, always respectful, asked, “Madam, what would you like to eat? I can have the chef whip something up for you.”


    Elena shook her head, already on a mission. “Nah, no need for that. Just point me to the kitchen.”


    Even though the butler didn’t know what she wanted to do, he took her to the kitchen.


    The kitchen was fully equipped with everything she needed—an oven, flour, eggs, and all the essentials to make a cake.


    Elena told the butler he could go back to his duties and began searching for a cake recipe herself. She set to work, starting the process of baking.


    When Wesley was done with his work and went to find Elena, he found her in the kitchen, busy with her task.


    Felix and the butler had already left, leaving therge house silent, with only the two of them there.


    Wesley leaned against the doorframe, silently watching her without saying a word.

    The ind sun shone brightly, especially this morning, casting a golden glow around Elena as she focused intently on her baking. The peaceful and quiet atmosphere wrapped around her, making the moment feel serene.


    Wesley’s Adam’s apple bobbed slightly as he watched her, his gaze unwavering.


    Elena followed the recipe step-by-step, cutting the risen dough into portions, marking them, and then cing them into the oven. It wasn’t until she turned that she saw Wesley standing there. “Did you finish your work already?” she asked.


    Wesley hummed in reply, but his eyes betrayed the emotions he was trying to conceal. “The chef could have baked that for you,” he said.


    Elena rinsed the flour off her hands under the faucet. “I wanted to do it myself,” she exined.


    Wesley raised an eyebrow, a hint of jealousy flickering in his gaze as he realized she was baking for Lizzie. He hadn’t had the chance to taste any of her cooking yet, and it seemed Lizzie was getting more of her attention than he was.


    While the bread baked in the oven, Elena poured herself a cup of coffee and sat down with Wesley to review the ns for thepleted hospital and school. They had chosen the locations for the buildings earlier, cing the hospital and the school near each other.
