?Chapter 854:
Before she could finish her sentence, Wesley’s hand, which had been resting lightly at her waist, suddenly gripped her tightly.
Keeping her gaze locked firmly on Kason, Elena didn’t even spare Wesley a nce. “But I have two conditions,” she said calmly. Wesley’s face darkened immediately, his icy re practically radiating anger as he sat silently by her side.
Unaffected by Wesley’s reaction, Elena continued, “First, I want ess to the Azure Dragon Unit’s base.”
A deep frown creased Kason’s forehead. Given that the Azure Dragon Unit operated under the highest level of secrecy, her demand was no small matter. After a brief pause, he nodded and replied, “I’ll file a report and request clearance for you to visit the Azure Dragon Unit’s research institute.”
Elena had been prepared to hear that he needed time to consult with his superiors. His swift agreement caught her slightly off guard. She gave a slight nod. “Second, I’m not enlisting. Aside from coborating on weapons research, I expectplete freedom.”
Military life was built on strict discipline and rigid management, but Elena had her own obligations. She wasn’t willing to set them aside.
Kason’s shoulders eased a little at her second condition. Compared to her earlier demand, this one was far lessplicated. Without any hesitation, he agreed. “You have my word.”
The Azure Dragon Unit was known as the military’s most highly ssified division. If Kason’s team hadn’t been stationed nearby, there was no way he could have agreed to Elena’s request so easily.
With everything settled, Elena extended her hand without hesitation. “Alright, it’s decided then.”
Kason reached out and shook it firmly, sealing their agreement.
Kason added in a steady voice, “I’ll head back to base in two days. Be prepared. Once your clearance for the Azure Dragon Unit is finalized, report straight to the research institute.”

Elena was about to give her response when Wesley, silent for far too long, finally interjected. “You’re seriously going with him?”
A sharp frown tugged at Elena’s lips. She was almost certain Wesley’s earlier grip had left a bruise on her waist. Still, she answered coolly, “Yes.”
“What?” Wesley gave a short, humorlessugh, his fury barely hidden. “You’re just going to head off with him like that?” Did she really think he was so insignificant? With the way things stood between them, shouldn’t she at least have discussed it with him first?
Elena shook her head without hesitation. “Who said I’d be going alone? You’reing with me.”
In truth, she didn’t just n to bring Wesley. She intended to bring along Edgewing’s top research team too. Edgewing’s team represented the best minds in the country’s weapons development sector. If they partnered with the military, breakthroughs at the research facility woulde much faster.
Wesley stood frozen for a moment, caught off guard by her words. Was she really asking him toe with her? “You want me to go too?” he asked, narrowing his eyes.
“Not just you,” Elena said clearly. “Edgewing’s research team ising along as well.”
