Chapter 848

    ?Chapter 848:

Elena averted her gaze, taking slow breaths to regain herposure. She had not forgotten about her mentor.

“Is it possible for you to contact anyone from the Azure Dragon Unit?” she asked softly.

Now aware that her mentor led the Azure Dragon Unit, finding him meant reaching out to the unit. Her long quest seemed nearer topletion, igniting a renewed sense of urgency within her.

Wesley’s eyes briefly flickered with hesitation. In a hushed, tense tone, he replied, “The Azure Dragon Unit operates under strict secrecy. Their identities are all confidential, essible only through military channels.”

As Elena’s hopeful expression dimmed, her face took on a cooler shade. The Azure Dragon Unit could only be reached through the military. This meant that, in order to find her mentor, she would have no choice but to enlist.

Sensing her thoughts, Wesley interjected sharply, “You’re contemting Kason’s offer to join the research institute, aren’t you?” His tone chilled the air. “Elena, dismiss that thought. I cannot permit it.”

Wesley, a figure of authority ustomed to obedience, exuded amanding presence.

Elena, however, was not one to be subdued easily. Her determination was unshakable. Once she decided on a course, she pursued it relentlessly.

With a resolute frown, Elena dered calmly, “This is my choice. I seek no one’s approval.” Even Wesley had no jurisdiction over her personal matters, let alone the authority to make decisions for her.

When their strong wills met, tension filled the air, erasing any signs of their previous closeness.

Wesley’s eyes narrowed, his patience wearing thin, yet Elena’s stare remained cold and firm. Compromise was off the table for both. Lingering any longer would have surely led to an argument.

Elena stood up first, her mind made up about joining the research institute. Further discussion with Wesley was unnecessary. She left swiftly, leaving no room for hesitation.

A visible tension strained Wesley. His temples throbbed, signaling the anger within.

By the car, Felix noticed Elena exiting alone, puzzled by Wesley’s absence. Upon entering the cafe and seeing Wesley’s brooding look, Felix instantly grasped the situation: Elena and Wesley had butted heads again.

Exhaling deeply, Felix muttered inwardly, “Will they ever cease this constant conflict? When will Wesley seed in winning Elena’s heart?”

Kason had allotted three days for Elena to consider, yet the second day brought unforeseen turmoil.

In the southern waters near Houis, a sh erupted between the navies of Houis and Avaloria, injuring three soldiers.

The authorities quickly censored the news, leaving the popce unaware of the altercation.

Among the high-ranking officials of Houis, anger simmered, and an undercurrent of tension quietly brewed within the military.
