Chapter 844

    ?Chapter 844:

The familiar glint of the ring sent Gerald’s mind reeling back fifty years. Back then, he had stood at the helm of the Azure Dragon Unit, driven by unwavering passion and a deep devotion to his country. There had been two rings, identical in every way—one was his, and the other belonged to a friend he trusted most.

They had carried the same dream in their hearts, but while Gerald stepped away from the unit for the sake of love, his friend had remained behind, devoting his life to the honorable cause of protecting the nation.

As memories of that friend surfaced, Gerald’s eyes gleamed with a mix of respect and longing.

It was clear that Wesley’s question had been sparked by something Elena had told him. Gerald said inly, holding nothing back, “The one leading the Azure Dragon Unit now.”

Wesley asked, “Do you know him?”

Gerald didn’t hesitate. “You need to understand that the identities of those in the Azure Dragon Unit are strictly confidential. Tell Elena to stop digging into this—she’s better off staying out of it.”

Wesley, as a member of the Spencer family, had always maintained a strong connection with the military. Because of that, he was well aware that the Azure Dragon Unit operated under top-secret ssification. So the moment Gerald spoke, he knew better than to press for details. But that small piece of information was enough—he now understood that Elena’s mentor led the Azure Dragon Unit.

Rising from his seat, Wesley gave a short nod. “Got it.”

He was just about to head out when Gerald suddenly called after him. Opening his eyes, Gerald gave Wesley a long, deliberate once-over, which left Wesley momentarily confused.

Wesley let out a quietugh. “What? Don’t recognize me anymore?”

After studying Wesley for a few more seconds, Gerald finally nodded in approval. “You’re not bad-looking, Wesley. Work a bit harder and get married already. I want a great-grandchild to spoil.”

    ???????????????? ??????????????: ?????????ν??????﹒?????

A low chuckle escaped Wesley. “Working on it.”

With steady strides, Wesley exited the Spencer Manor, leaving Gerald behind—staring after him in surprise.

Normally, Wesley would brush off any talk about marriage with a sarcastic remark or a groan of protest. But this time, he hadn’t snapped or shrugged it off. Not even a hint of annoyance. That could only mean one thing. Something had changed. Could it be… Wesley had finally taken a liking to someone?

To Gerald, this felt like the kind of revtion that could shake the ground beneath his feet.

Wesley didn’t need Gerald to worry about anything—except for his romantic life, which had Gerald fretting endlessly, wishing he could shove Wesley straight into marriage.

Wesley, however, couldn’t have been more unbothered. Not a single woman lingered around him, and he had t-out turned down Cathy, the match Gerald had so carefully arranged.

At one point, Gerald had even questioned whether Wesley was interested in women at all.

Now, after what felt like ages, Gerald finally saw the faintest flicker of hope. A heartyugh burst out of him. Maybe—just maybe—his dream of bouncing a great-grandchild on his knee wasn’t so far-fetched after all.
