Chapter 820

    ?Chapter 820:

As smoke curled around him, Wesley took onest drag and snuffed the cigarette out with a quiet flick.

Just as Felix reached for the ignition, he suddenly blurted out, “Mr. Spencer! Isn’t that the guy Miss Harper was introduced to on that date? What’s he doing sneaking around here thiste?”

Wesley didn’t answer right away. His eyes followed Felix’s line of sight. Near the front gate of the Harper family’s residence, Trent lingered in the shadows, shifting on his feet like a man torn between courage and hesitation—clearly searching for someone.

A shadow passed over Wesley’s face as his gaze hardened. “Get rid of him. I don’t want any trouble tonight.”

Without missing a beat, Felix snapped to attention. “Understood.” In less than three minutes, the front of the Harper family’s residence waspletely empty. No trace remained of the intruder—or Wesley’s car that had been parked out front.

From her window upstairs, Elena observed every second in silence. Not a flicker of emotion crossed her face as she slowly reached for the curtain and drew it shut. Wesley had cleaned up the mess without hesitation. She hadn’t needed to lift a finger. And honestly, that suited her just fine.

Throughout Kiera’s stay in the hospital, Louis practically lived there.

A full day passed before Kiera stirred—her body heavy, but no longer weighed down by exhaustion. Hershes flickered, and slowly, her eyes blinked open.

The room held its breath. No beeping monitors, no chatter. Just Louis, slumped forward with his head resting beside her on the edge of the bed.

Malcolm had stopped showing up as often. Each time he caught sight of Louis parked in that same chair, something bitter settled behind his eyes. He couldn’t sit there doing nothing, so he’d gone back to work for a while.

Still, Louis never budged. By the time Kiera woke fully, he was still fast asleep.

This was the closest Kiera had ever been to Louis.

Golden sunlight spilled in behind him, wrapping him in a quiet warmth as he slept without a care. He was, without question, incredibly handsome—those longshes could stir envy in anyone, his nose was sharp and straight, his brows were perfectly shaped, and every feature on his face came together with impossible symmetry. Even in sleep, his brow had the slightest furrow, like he couldn’t quite let go of worry. He’d folded one arm beneath his head, clearly ufortable, but didn’t seem to mind. His other handy beside hers—close enough to touch.

For a moment, Kiera just watched. Then, with a breath held in her throat, she reached out slowly. Her cheeks warmed, blooming with a delicate flush, and hershes dipped as her finger grazed his.

A jolt of electricity shot through Kiera’s chest. She recalled the moment right before everything went dark—how Louis had wrapped his arms around her, shielding her like she was something he refused to let break.

With a quiet breath, she extended her hand uncertainly until her fingers brushed his.

Warmth greeted her touch, steady and real. Her cheeks ame with embarrassment, she began to pull her hand away, only for it to be firmly grasped.

Her breath caught. Her eyes widened, startled.
