Chapter 790

    ?Chapter 790:

He adjusted his hat and reached for the doorknob. “There’s something I need to deal with right now. I’ll get awyer to handle the mess online, so you don’t have to worry about it.”

With that, he slipped out before she could say anything else.

Most days, Ellis stayed buried in hisboratory, far removed from gossip and social media. But when he caught sight of Louis storming off, something told him this wasn’t minor. He dug through a drawer, pulled out his barely-used phone, and unlocked it. What he saw made his jaw tighten.

“Do you want me to find those behind the defamatory posts and nderousments?” Ellis asked calmly, devoid of anger. “Anyone spreading false ims online ismitting libel. I can track them and hold them ountable.”

While Elena appreciated his offer, with the smear campaign gaining traction, trying to track down every single offender felt like chasing shadows. She shook her head. “No need to go through all that trouble.”

Ellis set his fork down and met her gaze. “It’s no trouble at all.”

His quiet resolve caught Elena off guard. There was something steady in his expression that stirred a gentle warmth in her chest. He rarely said much, but his care ran as deep as Jeffry’s or Louis’s. Still, she didn’t want the extra help. Most of those throwing insults were just tagging along with the crowd. If any of them were arrested, the headlines would twist the story and make her look guilty—like she had something to hide.

Plus, the whole giarism im wasughable. Theparative chart might look incriminating, but the so-called “original” author they mentioned was actually her, writing under another pen name. How could she possibly steal her own work?

Elena already had a n in ce. “I appreciate it, Ellis, but this is something I can handle on my own.” Ellis caught the tone in her voice and nodded. There was no need to argue when she had already made up her mind.

Meanwhile, Louis was speeding toward the Johnson estate. But the moment he arrived, he was told Kiera wasn’t home.

The butler exined that Kiera had left for the hospital earlier. That alone made Louis’ chest tighten. He didn’t hesitate. If she had seen the bacsh online, she’d be terrified.

Louis jumped back into the car and took off, unaware that several vehicles had begun tailing him from the moment he left the estate.

With the hospital in sight, some of the tension in his shoulders eased. Kiera was standing just outside the main entrance.

He mmed the door shut behind him, crossed the distance in a few long strides, and pulled her tightly into his arms.

Kiera didn’t even have time to flinch. One second she was standing there, and the next Louis had pulled her into a tight embrace. Still as stone, she stayed frozen in his arms, too stunned to respond. Her heart thundered in her chest, and words refused toe.

“Stay away from the news for a while,” Louis said, holding her close. “Even if you doe across it, don’t let it get to you. None of it’s true. They’re just making things up.”

The chill from the previous night had gotten to Kiera, and her brother had rushed her to the hospital before dawn. Because of that, she hadn’t even nced at her phone since waking up. Her brows pinched slightly. She couldn’t figure out what Louis was talking about.

Unable to form a proper sentence, Kiera lifted her hands and asked using signnguage, “What’s going on?”

Louis gave a soft shake of his head. “It’s nothing you need to worry about. Whateveres up, just don’t believe a word of it. Trust me, okay?”
