Chapter 775

    ?Chapter 775:

Nothing in Wesley’s bodynguage changed. He gave a short nod, calm as ever.

Meanwhile, Felix, who had been standing quietly near the exit, felt sweat creeping down his back. Wesley hadn’t sugarcoated a single word. If anything, he’d gone out of his way to make a point.

After the banquet wrapped up, Felix rushed to steady Wesley, pretending Wesley was more tipsy than he looked.

Once the car door shut behind them, Wesley’s eyes snapped open—clear, calcting, pletely sober.

From the console, Felix grabbed a bottle of water and passed it over. He frowned before he finally asked, “Mr. Spencer, you knew Mr. Russell wanted to set you up with his daughter. Was it really wise to shut him down like that?”

Even if the Spencer Group had powerful ties, Liam still held the position of mayor in the. Wesley might’ve cared deeply for Elena, but that didn’t mean he had to humiliate the mayor in front of everyone.

Wesley turned his head, his stare icy and unwavering. Felix said nothing else.

Settling into the seat, Wesley let his shoulders rx, but his eyes stayed sharp, unreadable. He tapped once on his phone. The screen glowed, and there she was—Elena, peaceful and luminous even in a photo.

Wesley never saw marriage as a necessity for solidifying the Spencer family’s social standing. Elena was the only woman he envisioned as his bride.

“Return immediately,” Wesley instructed, his voice devoid of warmth.

Upon arriving at his residence, Wesley rid himself of the night’s smells of smoke and liquor, stepping out of the shower with only a towel loosely draped around his waist.

His hair was wet, droplets of water cascading down his neck, tracing the lines of his toned abs before vanishing into the fabric of his towel. He grabbed his phone, activated the camera, and captured an image of his abdominal muscles. Next, heunched his messaging app and navigated to his conversation with Elena. Without a word, he transmitted the image.

Elena was preparing for bed when she decided to check her messages, only to be confronted with Wesley’s damp and enticing appearance. She stared, her eyes wide with astonishment.

The image disyed Wesley, his skin shimmering with droplets, his face partially visible, and his torso bare. The definition in his muscles and the suggestively positioned towel spoke volumes.

Had their previous conversations not been so familiar, Elena might have dismissed the image as a distasteful joke from a stranger. She puzzled over Wesley’s intentions. Why would he send such a suggestive photo at thiste hour?

Responding to Wesley’s photo, Elena quickly replied with three question marks before archiving the image in her album.

As time ticked away without any further word from Wesley, she eventually set her phone aside and went to sleep.

Wesley kept quiet on purpose. But it didn’t go the way he thought it would. It hit him—he’d been wrong. Staying silent wouldn’t make Elena chase him. It would only make her move on. If he wanted to win her heart, he’d have to change his game n.

At one in the morning, darkness cloaked the world outside.

Evelyn sat alone on the bed, her vigil stretchingte into the night with no sign of Jeffry. Frustration burned in her eyes as she reflected on his absence. Jeffry seemed to neglect his role as her husband. Since their return from the ind, he had not once returned home at night, leaving her to face the evenings alone.

At first, she could tell herself that his work was simply too demanding. But even with a packed schedule, he surely needed some sleep, right? Yet, it had been days, and he seemed to have disappeared.
