    Once they got back to the house, Elena went straight upstairs to wash off the ne grime.


    Evelyn watched Elena walk away, her lips pursed in annoyance. Having just married into the Harper family, she thought it was incredibly rude that Elena hadn’t even acknowledged her. Was Elena still upset about that whole wedding dress thing? It was a misunderstanding! Did Elena really have to be so petty? The whole trip, Evelyn had been holding back her snarkyments about Elena.     Jolie, who’d been up since the crack of dawn getting everything ready for the wedding, waspletely wiped out by the time they got home. Just as Jolie was—


    Just as Jolie was about to sneak off to her room for some peace and quiet, Evelyn called out to her, “Jolie, does Elena have some kind of problem with me?”


    Jolie was taken aback for a moment, but she pulled herself together and said gently, “Don’t worry about it. Elena doesn’t have any problem with you. Everyone here is really friendly.”


    But Evelyn didn’t let it go. She didn’t even notice how tired Jolie looked.


    She grabbed Jolie’s hand and spoke in a voice that sounded light, but her words clearly showed she was upset. “Elena didn’t even say hi to me just now. I think she’s still mad about the wedding dress. That’s probably why she was rude. I was just nervous before and messed up. Please don’t be upset with me like she is, alright?”


    Jolie let out a long sigh. Her head felt heavy, and her legs were sore. But since it was Evelyn’s first day home post-marriage, she didn’t want Evelyn to feel left out. So she exined again, patiently, “Elena isn’t the type to hold grudges. She probably just didn’t see you, and that’s why she didn’t say anything. The Harper family members are all friendly, so you don’t need to stress about that.”


    Jolie just wanted Evelyn to feelfortable in the house and not worry about anything.


    But Evelyn took it the wrong way. She thought Jolie was criticizing her in a roundabout way. Jolie said the Harper family members were all friendly. Seriously? Just look at how these supposed friendly family members treated her! Elena was far from friendly, to begin with, refusing to acknowledge her in such a tant way. Moreover, Jolie sounded annoyed from her limited mentions of Elena. It appeared all those nice things Jolie had said earlier were all fake.

    As far as the sulking Evelyn was concerned, Jeffry was the only decent person in the whole Harper family.


    Evelyn kept her face tight and said in a cold voice, “Got it. I’m tired, so I’ll go rest in my room.”


    She didn’t say anything else and headed upstairs.


    Jolie noted Evelyn was upset, but she was too tired to fix things. She let out another sigh.


    Back in her room, Evelyn cursed Elena for a long while. Before the wedding dress issue, she and Elena had kept things polite and avoided each other. But now, she couldn’t even look at Elena without feeling upset.


    If it weren’t for Jeffry, Evelyn wouldn’t have wanted to live with the Harpers at all. She had assumed that living here meant being with Jeffry more, maybe even sharing a room. But he hadn’te back at all.


    Elena paid no attention to Evelyn. Right after her shower, she started sketching designs. She had promised Louis she would design a dress for him, and she was determined to keep her word.


    Elena was fast at designing jewelry, but she was even quicker at sketching clothes. She finished the first version in just half an hour. After making some small changes, she sent the design to Fannie.
